Well, our choices are limited. And if the Browns are done with Manziel (which they may or may not be) then they will take Lynch, freeing up Manziel for trade. Then do you stretch for Goff? Or do you trade some combo of our compensatory picks for Manziel and use the first round pick on another position? Manziel is at least good enough to be a backup. And he was high on our draft board.

Any qb we draft this year probably will take three years to get good. Then you are narrowing the window for the current crop of offensive talent - Dez, the line, etc.

Would we want Sam Bradford? Would we trust the offense to, say, Landry Jones based on his limited snaps? Could we take Robert Griffin's salary hit? Frankly, Manziel is the best bet of the already-pro group that would realistically be available. Obviously sobriety is an issue. But it might be a risk we have to take.

If we trade for a QB in the NFL I'd rather go after Mettenberger. The only sweet thing Manziel can throw is a party.

None of those guys will be here.

I would put even odds that Cassel will be the #2 next season.

The #3 guy? Probably a draft pick.

But there were MANY folks on here who got wood about how they wanted the Cowboys to draft him.

Look at this way ... if his name were not Johnny Manziel, if he were not a polarizing figure, he would be the sensible choice.

Not so good. SD & Tenn would trade the pick away for teams looking for a QB like NO and Washington.

How do you know this? Ive read on this same board several times that this QB class isnt great at all, yet other teams are going to be trading up and mortgaging their future for these not so great prospects? Did anyone trade up last year for a qb in the first round which had a much better draft class? :huh:

So many great non-QB prospects that I'd love to have on this team. I'm conflicted because I'm really not impressed with Goff/Lynch but I do realize we may not get a better chance at a Top-5 pick like this to get one.

A draft pick isn't going to overcome Garrett's incompetence.. And it doesn't guarantee anything..

Even Romo could only get us 8-8 consistently..

Philosophical changes are priority number 1...
