Are there actually any left or are they just keeping silent right now? Im sure they will pile out of the woodwork as soon as something goes right for the boys. All but forgetting the horror of this year and his shortcomings. As was on full display at the end of the game last week. What if that was a playoff game? A SB game? Is Garrett the guy you want running the team?

who is silent? I even called out your nonsense, so you can't pretend to be ignorant

Well the play was designed to go outside, and that is not a smart play to run if you dont want the runner going out of bounds.
also dont run it to the weak side, run it to the strong side with more room to cut upfield, away from sideline, which means in this case
play should have gone to the right.

And the reason people are complaining is not that we won. but that we could have lost very easily by leaving that time on the clock.
What if wash had driven in for a td and gone for 2 and got it and left no time on clock for us to get fg, or it goes to ot and they win.

It was a confused mess on part of both teams, and luckily bailey hit the 54 yd fg.
So on to GB and lets see if we can confuse them too! we want to play football and we think they want to play football too ! lol

getting 9 yards on first down is not a bad play. it directly led to getting another set of downs, which is better than falling down at the line of scrimmage. he just happened to score the go ahead TD when he easily converted the second and one....the horror.......

He didn't make a mistake...McFadden did in that situation.

You guys should listen to Nate Newton on Talkin Cowboys speak on the subject. I'm sure you won't accept the position because of your disdain for Garrett....but players and coaches have different perspectives than fans.

Are you serious? Garrett himself said that it wasnt a mistake. If you are the head coach you tell your players to 100% kneel on the ball there. You practice it all year long and even if you didnt, you do what head coaches do and you manage the game.

Are you really sitting here trying to say that it was NOT a mistake?

Gaining 9 yards was not the problem. Going out of bounds was the issue. Get it?

What do you suggest?

If he stays in bounds WAS calls 2 TOs and DAL kicks a FG with 30 secs left.

I'll take the 7 pt lead with 1:14 left over a 3 pt lead with 30 secs left.

How did that tie game work for WAS? Bailey still got a FG off to win.

no it isnt, it is just 2 different viewpoints and opinions.
you cant say your right and they cant say they are right ! lol it is just a opinion
either one can work or fail.

scoring a touchdown will never fail. the fail is what happens later. 7 points in a tie game is always good. always. it is that simple. not an opinion, an axiom

Seriously.

Two is the answer. The odds of winning are the same and I'll take the made hand over the draw, no matter how probable. I'll take the 7 point lead every time over a possible FG attempt. It is really hard to go the length of the field and score a TD in a minute.

Same question but you are losing by one on the FG. Do you still run out the clock and play for the FG.

To me the clock is always secondary when trailing or tied. You can never score too early when losing or tied.

i still havent found anywhere you are sourcing that %.

I am a Jason supporter. I think he has done a pretty good job, and I tend to expect the players to make plays and I don't hold a coach accountable for Dez dropping a pass that cost us a game this year, or the QB throwing stupid int that cost us a game or two this year, etc. Those are players not making plays. Now It seems the biggest issue on this debate is that Garrett didn't tell the RB to not score. The calls were not aggressive calls, 2 run plays. You have a 13 year vet as QB and a 7 year VET as a RB. Do they really need to be reminded of the situation or should the coach expect them to know what to do in these situations as they have been gone over and over in practice?

But here is my question, for all those that are killing Jason for scoring a TD. Once McFadden ran out of bounds, it was 2nd and 1 and Washington had two time outs. So the option of taking a knee(which i can't think of one team ever in the same situation that has taken a knee).. but it was out. it would have done no good what so ever to take a knee at that point. So, we need to pick up the first down in order to actually burn time off the clock. So we run the ball, straight up the gut. What would you have had him do there? Tell everyone to not block but for a yard gain only? Again, these situations are gone over and over and over again at practice.

I really don't get the outcry over this. In a perfect world, yes he would have been tackled before scoring. Or he would have just fell down. either one works. But its not like Garrett called a double reverse WR screen trying to score a TD there. He ran the ball up the middle, the most basic play. We haven't ran the ball for 9 yards all night up the middle. I would also be willing to bet my house that he same ones that are crying and screaming that we won the game would be the first one in here calling him ball less if he had played for the FG there and we somehow lost.

Guys....seriously. Keep the conversation on topic. There is no need to insult each other, or to toe the line re: insulting anybody. Just play nicely.

As far as the off-topic incendiary jabs at the coaches or the owner go in the non-Rant-Zone threads, there's no excuse for not understanding the requirements at this point. The stickies and the explanations are all there even if common sense doesn't make things clear. Please, just be reasonable posters who disagree here.

option one assumes we get a first down because we want it, that didn't work out for us all frigging game.

"hey McFadden, you couldn't convert all game, but this time, don't hit the hole too hard, you momentum might carry you into the endzone, and that would doom us"

Please read post #145.

Same place you are, PFR.

And even if it is off a point or two, I'm taking the made hand over a great probability.

Bird in the hand.

And you only get to that great probability if you accept the 'huge mistake' of McFadden picking up 9 yards on first down. You can't criticize it and then factor it into your formulas.

How many seconds were on the clock when it was first down?

You are arguing against reality here because in that particular play Mcfadden did get the first down. And if you watch the play he could've easily laid down before the td. He actualy launches himself to break the plain. Dumb.

in that play he was told to play smash mouth football. scoring a touchdown was as much of the goal as getting the first down.

in some dumb parallel universe where the play call was to only get the first down, he very well could of ran more tentatively and been dropped for a loss.

There isnt a coach or player alive that would agree with McFadden running out of bounds. Its really said to listen people defend the move.

So you are positive he knew he had the first down for sure and he wasn't just insuring he did the most important thing in picking it up.

Too much nuance involved in your plan.

This isn't chess, it's football. Otherwise Harvard and MIT would be playing for the title every year. Zuckerberg could write an algorithm to know when the optimal time to gain yards vs points scored vs time left and we could just watch simulations on Madden.

McFadden made the mistake...and yes I'm serious. Argue with someone else. I don't hate Garrett. I don't look for perfection in people and things.
I'm on to the next one.

I was on the Garret hype train coming into the season, the successive losses without his crutch Tony Romo has awoken me up to the reality of who he is as it has others. The holdouts at this point are probably just stubborn and in denial.
