There isnt a coach or player alive that would agree with McFadden running out of bounds. Its really said to listen people defend the move.

Except that it worked to our benefit. That has to hurt your brain.

There is no chance to even think of running out the clock without the first down.

You do realize that gaining 10 yards gives you 4 more downs to use. When running out the clock, a first down is King.

McFadden made the mistake...and yes I'm serious. Argue with someone else. I don't hate Garrett. I don't look for perfection in people and things.
I'm on to the next one.

Mcfadden made the mistake because his coach didn't remind him to stay in bounds. Or didn't make sure no one could screw up by just having them kneel down.

Does it matter to you that the Monday night crew were laughing about it all after the game? Do you enjoy being the laughing stock of the NFL these days? I certainly dont. Garrett is a big reason why.

Amazing. Please inform me how running out of bounds helped our cause? LOL

There was no need to pick up a first down. None at all. If you dont realize that simple fact, then its no wonder you support where most other people were laughing in our faces.

prove this now!!!

here is the only proof I can find about that thinking:

"Now, in that situation the nine yards is a good, but keeping the clock running is paramount and we didn’t do that," Garrett said

So you are positive he knew he had the first down for sure and he wasn't just insuring he did the most important thing in picking it up.

Too much nuance involved in your plan.

This isn't chess, it's football. Otherwise Harvard and MIT would be playing for the title every year. Zuckerberg could write an algorithm to know when the optimal time to gain yards vs points scored vs time left and we could just watch simulations on Madden.

So you think a RB cannot tell between a 1 or 2 yard gain and a 6 yard gain??

Honest question, everybody is entitled to their opinion and although I can´t understand your thinking, I do respect it.

You are the HC of the Commanders, what would you want for your team?

a) the other team kicking a 20 yard fg at the end of regulation in a tie game?

b) have the ball with 1:14 and two TO losing by 7

That should answer your question.

Ok, so you support running out of bounds, no sense arguing with you on that.

so not its 2nd down and we need one yard to pick up the first and run out the clock. Do you support Mcfadden running all the way into the endzone or would you have like to see him fall down on the 2 yard line?

I just told you.

Gaining 9 of the 10 yards for a new set of downs was better than gaining no yards and staying in bounds.

Getting the first down supersedes stopping the clock once.

Plus it made scoring the TD that much more probable, which is why we won.

Its different if we have the lead.

Without the lead all the clock stuff is a distant second.

It is hard enough to score in this league when trying 100%, let alone when trying to play reindeer games with the clock.

If we are playing make believe, I will take us winning 73-0.

Your hypothetical doesn't exist without accepting McFadden's first 'mistake'. That can't be a part of any sensible plan.

can't you keep track of what people say? it's in writing and everything!
Listen pal, Im trying to have some conversations here with other posters that arent blatantly insulting me or following me around stalking me. If you want to have a civil conversation then lets do it. If people not liking Garrett is too much for you to handle, then lets just no have a conversation.

I know , I got a good laugh out of that last nite.

He also said they practice the run but dont score play a lot !!!!!!! lol guess they need to practice some more??

what we wanted to do was play football at that point............ translation is we had no real plan, just play football !!!!!!
if we run out of bounds its football, if we score too quickly its football, if we dont go down at the one its football !!

I think he is saying look we know about all that , but it is too much for me, so we just played football and move forward !
We left too much time up , but so did they so it worked out !!! in a football way.
Jason likes using the word football now, one of his new keywords .

It's getting to the point I would rather listen to Jerry babble than JGs football speak.

Lets stick to the facts. We were tied and now its 2nd and 1. Are you telling McFadden to score or are you telling him to pick up the first down and go down before the endzone?

so after mods had to delete all your nonsense, you now want things to be civil.

hey, I'm all for it. now please show us this proof that McFadden was not told to stay in bounds. I know Garrett wanted him to stay in bounds, and I posted the proof of that

you keep making claims with no proof. back up your claims please.

I am talking about the 2nd ad 1 play, of course I accept McFadden´s dumb play when he went out of bounds, that was stupid.

If you agree that McFadden made a mistake then there is no way you can let Garrett off the hook. Unless you are telling me that Mcfadden was told to stay in bounds and he simply forgot.

I tell him to score.

I am never scared about going up 7 points late in the game.

And I would never let the other team score. I have seen too many goal line stands and missed FGs to play that kind of football.
