Jerry Jones won't make major overhaul: Cowboys 'closer than this record indicates'

And largely because of their defense coached by you know who. We could have had Phillips as DC back then and Jerrah hired him for defense but did that weird Coach and Assistant Coach in Training for Garrett, assuring Wade's head was on the block the whole time and Garrett was behind him holding the knife.
The only way we were going to get Phillips was as a head coach. Jerry later said that he had wanted to make Garrett the HC from the start, but that it would have been a "deal breaker" for Phillips.

I don't get what he said that was so wrong? He said the coaches need to better, I think we all agree. He said the QB for both short and long term needs to be addressed and it will, I think we all agree. He said the run game and OL was pretty good, again, I agree, especially since Dmac was named the starter and got the bulk of the carries and to think he wouldn't have more yard if both a healthy Romo and Dez were playin every game is just silly, of course he would have. So he is right about Dmac. What is so delusional.. I agree, we are alot closer to going to a SB than most 4-11 teams I have seen.

fair point but i doubt it. every other team but us can have a scheme thats malleable enough to where a backup QB can come it to be at least serviceable to win a couple or more games to take them away from picking in the top 10.

Oh I agree entirely. No way this team should've lost as many games as we did without Romo. That is on the coaching staff more than the players.

Well I guess we will find out in 2016. Hope we are not in this same position at this time next year wondering why we didn't do this or that in player acquisition or coaching change. If we are then we just wasted another year for Romo and his window may then be closed shut, which is unfortunate because I thought he really turned the corner in 2014 becoming the great QB a lot of people were saying he was previously.

If Cam Newton went down week 2, the Carolina Panthers would be picking in the top 10 with us. That is an offense with below average receivers, an average running game that is built around a QB's abilities and that QB is having a tremendous season. The defense is very good but Cam Newton's tremendous season is what makes them elite and helps them win all the close games they have had this year.

They are also number 1 in turnover differential, we are dead last and without our two best players, pretty much adds up to 4 wins.
Some may disagree but there's a lot of luck in TO differential. There's always big swings every year from team to team

Has not sniffed a SB in 20 years, yet always thinks he's so close. The sense of entitlement permeates the entire organization.

If we hadn't just re-signed Dez, I think we would be heading into the "Trade Two #1 Picks for a WR" phase of Jerry Jones Management Cycle(TM).

Ok. Wade was prescient then.

There is some luck to it, sure, but when your starting CBs have zero INTs there is a lack of talent aspect to it as well.

Huh? They had to stay ahead of the 10-5 Chiefs. The Raiders have a better record than 3 teams in our division.

Honestly the record may not show it but Oakland has been better than every team in the NFCE this season.

The Big Tuna always said you are what your record says you are. I'm guessing Jerry isn't a subscriber to that line of thought.

The same mind set was there in the late 90s when our stars were aging and no rebuilding was done except for the Joey Galloway signing, because he thought we were one player away, and like the special teams draft a few years ago because he felt that's all we needed to get over the hump. The mind set is still here today as evidenced by his comment that we are close.....but like I said before we will see....

not surprised. disappointed because the delusion continues but not surprised it does.

my concern and fear is that Romo goes down again next season and we miss the playoffs again.

Romo going down next year isn't even a fear for me, it's an obvious conclusion.

People are still convincing themselves we'd be fine if Romo stayed healthy. The same way you can't let this year's 4-win season blind you from reality, you can't let last year's 4-loss season blind you. Last year was as much a fluke and this year. Go through the history books. We're an 8-8 team during the Romo era. Romo wasn't the answer to all our problems then and he sure isn't now that he'll be 36 with a crumbling collarbone and bad back. Our problems go beyond the health of Romo, otherwise we'd need a third hand for our Super Bowl rings. We're not gonna win unless we make drastic changes. But that won't happen. That's why we've been the Raiders of the NFC since the mid 90s.

My God, Darren McFadden is going to be the starter next year.

This is plan A to this idiot.

I want them to draft the guy to replace McFadden but I wouldn't be opposed to him starting at the beginning of the year and then having the rookie start taking over through out the year.

If they go in without drafting, or picking up, a guy to be an upgrade to McFadden though...that would be terrible.

When you're selling used cars, you don't mention all the problems with the pile of junk. You just say all it needs is some seat covers.
