It starts with him but as I asked earlier what would you or anyone else have done different after last season? He won a playoff game and lacked a pass rush. He invested in Greg Hardy and Randy Gregory. What did he do wrong? The blame starts with him yes I agree but it surely doesn't end with him.
 
CBS's meme states the obvious, so why would I have a problem with it? Last year Dallas won twelve, followed by four this season. Sixteen total wins, which is in keeping with the long-haul trend. The symmetry between the W & L columns over the course of two decades is actually quite impressive. There should be a trophy for that, because this organization hasn't been in the running for much else. That's how the Joneses roll.

I would've found a way to have kept Murray and I saw enough of Brandon Weeden vs AZ to know he wasn't the answer at backup. Everything starts and ends with Jerry.

I wouldn't have put any faith in Weeden ... especially after seeing his performance against the Cardinals the previous year.
 
In terms of success, it seems there should be a big difference between a team that ranks 8th in wins and one that ranks in the middle. Unfortunately, there isn't and it's due largely to a limited playoff field.

Consider this: Of the 16 teams in each conference, only 6 make the playoffs each year. Of those, only half return to the playoffs the next year. The teams with the best chance to win a Super Bowl over a period of time (say, a decade) are the ones making the postseason on an annual basis. Consequently, there aren't more than three or four genuinely elite teams in a conference.

The Cowboys aren't one of those teams and haven't been for twenty years. In fairness, it isn't easy becoming one of those teams.

So who would you have put faith in instead? Btw, Texans put faith in Brandon Weeden and it resulted in 2 wins.

The Texans don't have a play not to lose offensive system like the Cowboys. BTW the Texans had no choice but to go with Weeden he was their third string QB.

Texans put faith in Brandon Weeden and it resulted into 2 wins. Murray STUNK this year and Darren McFadden looked superior to him. If there was one thing Jerry got right this offseason it was McFadden and not investing long term in Demarco Murray.
 
Its obvious Jerry and Jason believe that they can win with a healthy Romo. They have put this team on his back for years. They went into this season gambling on him staying healthy...and lost. If it weren't for Tony we would be like the Browns. Its time to draft a QB and let him watch/play. You can't do that grabbing Johhny Football but Johnny will fill the seats which makes Jerry even more money. Will Jerry be smart and draft a QB high in the draft or will he be Jerry and gamble again?

I'm not talking about one season. We won 13 games in 2007 too (with the team Parcells built) and promptly slid back into mediocrity again.

And given the fact the team could only manage to win ONE game without Romo, It's obvious there are bigger holes than just the backup QB.

We'll see what happens next year, but from where I'm standing it looks like as much as everything went wrong this year, everything went right last year. Just two flukey seasons for an 8-8 team.

Ok so that goes back to my statement that Jerry pays these guys Linehan and Jason Garrett VERY WELL to go out there and come up with a offensive gameplan that's good enough to win games and it didn't this season so how is that Jerry's fault? They did it last year. So was he suppose to fire them after they had 13 wins and one of the best offenses in the league?

So they won 13 games last year and were 3-1 with Romo and you think this season would've resulted in missing the playoffs? Look, I get what you're saying. I don't want to use the Romo injury as an excuse not to upgrade this team. But its a legit problem this team had. Your offense is dependent on Romo and it was more clear now then ever. That's the first step. Stop being so reliant on Romo and get a far better offense in here and that starts with the playbook.

Jerry hasn't put a good staff together that's his fault. A good staff starts with a solid head coach. He's already stated he won't make major changes he forces the coaches to change. After the 08 season instead of firing Wade Phillips he made him change. He hires puppets and yes men.

This isn't the '70s or '80s anymore. There's this thing called a "salary cap" that's designed to keep things interesting. A .500 record is nothing to be proud of, but it's also nothing to be ashamed of. It's average. We won 12 games just a season ago and we could very well win 12+ games next season.

I've seen my NFL team win it 3 times and my NBA team (Warriors) win it once. I count my sports blessings daily. It could be FAR worse.

Yea, nothing like comparing yourself to the dregs to feel good. I mean, why compare to the successful teams?
 
I think in the NFL coaching is just as important as the players themselves since the coaches pick the players, call the plays, etc. The games we have won, IMO, is due to us having some really good skill position players, not coaching. That's why we are .500.......
