NFCCG: Cardinals-Panthers Thread

I am not a fan of Cam, but I don't hate the guy. Nothing wrong with bringing emotion to the game. I miss the celebrations from the 80s.

He was in the endzone a good 30 seconds AFTER Ginn on his score. I don't have a problem with some celebration, but that me first ******** needs to go.

Terry Bradshaw must have shrunk at least 2 inches since his playing days.

If that Denver pass rush comes in wild and don't stay in their lanes they will be in serious trouble against Cam as he will run it down their throats.

I was shocked to learn last week was his first ever playoff win. I thought for sure he had won before.

He should have won his first one ever.. They were the hottest team in the league if I recall, But the Steeler player took him out intentionally. His first pass was like sixty yards and then he got his knee taken out.

I can't imagine many people can love football and single out just Cam because he is black...85% of the players are black. A true racist wouldn't even watch the sport.

Not necessarily. Racism is not that simple. Here's an analogy I use (and one I used to hear). White people would point to the fact that they're not racist because they have a friend who is black or their nanny was black. And my response to them is, "What does that prove?" Racism isn't just about you liking a person of another race. It involves your reaction when one can exercise authority over you or when they exhibit a culture or a way of doing things that isn't in line with how you would do it.
I know plenty of whites who I talk with, and we're friendly towards one another. And then when I umpire their baseball games, you see the resent towards my authority because I have the ability to determine whether their team wins or loses.
So racism isn't simply people not wanting to watch the game because blacks are involved, nor can you conclude that because people like to watch blacks play they're not racist.

I see nothing in common with Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton.
What's wrong with just accepting the fact that time and time again whenever a person acts arrogant it rubs people the wrong way. It's more troubling that so many people prefer to justify or ignore arrogance than speak out against it...

How is Aaron Rodgers' "Discount Double check" not arrogant?
Second, you may not see it as the same, but others do. Could it be that you can't see the commonality because of your own social conditioning? (Note: I'm not calling you a racist.)

its the same as it is with his DB Norman, or Sherman ect....it's off putting to watch someone act so arrogant regardless of what color they are.

It's kind of interesting to hear people (not necessarily you but others I speak with) who arrogantly cheer on their team, bad mouth other teams and brag arrogantly about their team, but it's suddenly wrong for Norman or Sherman to act the way they do because it's arrogant.

Now I'd prefer the Barry Sanders attitude also. But I recognize that people aren't all the same, and they may not see their celebrations as arrogant.

I can't stand it even when the Cowboys do it. Make a tackle, act like an idiot. Defend a pass, act like an idiot.

What? Is this the No Fun League?!

No. The fun should come from playing the game.

People don't want to accept it but there is a reason the league voted to bad the TO type of TD celebrations. The majority of fans find it classless and disgusting. It hurts the brand...Cam Newton will make the owners tighten the rules even more. People can accuse others of racism or whatever but the fact is people in general find it classless and will start to tune out if it continues.

Well coached. Rivera deserves CoTY .

He has pretty much done it since they were at a crossroads last year.

Hard to believe this is the same team that won 6 or 7 games last year. I'm sure we'll hear from Jerry now how the Cowboys could be next season's Panthers...

Tell me somebody didn't just compare this Panthers team to the Cowboys of 92.

Jesus H. Christ. Go to bed and deliver your papers in the morning.

I said it's like a coming of age for them. They are young and playing with swagger and dominating teams.

I didn't say they were anywhere near as good.

Chill out..

So, you have nothing to offer but going after the post count?

Thanks!

No dude. Here's the disappointing thing for me with guys like you, Alexander. You're a smart freaking dude. You're not some idiot parrot without the ability to post something that is thought provoking and worthy of some fantastic discussion material. I KNOW this because I've seen it. It's disappointing because time after time your intellect is wasted on low hanging fruit that you seem to lean on like a crutch time and time again. Because you're a smart guy, when you do that, it attracts the actual low hanging fruit around here which has an effect on the overall tone of a thread or the board in general and the stupidity turns into a mob mentality that makes this place look like a **** hole sometimes. You're better than that (as I said because I've seen it). That's about as simply as I can put it. That's not easy for me to post because giving you "props" isn't exactly making me all warm and fuzzy right about now, but if you want the most honest answer I can possibly give you, you just got it.

No one liked Igor Olshansky's dance after a tackle?

I think all dances should be themed off nicknames - Im looking at you Nick Hayden

I'm sure Denver is wishing they had their offense from 2 years ago to go along with this year's defense.

They are a disciplined unit. The Seahawks had the blueprint in the second half of their game. The bigger issues is how the Broncos are going to the move the ball.

Or Vegas called in because of the spread...

My conditioning?
You are assuming I am white...

Take a guess what my handle Superonyx means...a hint...onyx is black.
