Fisher: Cowboys people thinks Griffin would have to relearn position to be a QB here

If the QB has to relearn his position to play it then something is wrong with the staff.

I'm not necessarily advocating getting Griffin, but good coaches adapt to the personnel.
If the Cowboys staff is saying it can't adapt, it's an admission that last year's QB struggles had just as much or more to do with them as they did with Weeden and Cassel.

It's not like Griffin was reading the field really well in the offense that was designed around his talents.

He'll find an excuse to keep garrett. I fully believe garret will coach out his contract.

Also, if he was as married to Garrett as most believe, he wouldnt have let him going into the last year of his deal with no extension. That is very rare, coachs are usually extended or fired the year before there contract runs out

garrett seemsxto force players into a system vs build around his talent

I think this offense was built for Romo. If that isn't building around your players, what is? To think that we would have two offenses, one for Romo and one for RGMe!, then you are not thinking clearly.

He wont think it was a fluke if we dont make the playoffs again in 2016
For the most part, I believe this as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if Garrett is locked at the hip with Romo, i.e. no matter what happens, Garrett is here as long as Romo is and longer if we get deep in the playoffs during that time.

If RG3 "relearning" the position means we don't have to blow to number 4 pick on a QB who won't see the field for 3 years then sign me up.

I hope you are right, but JJ has been known to be stubborn to prove he can succeed his way and Garrett is the epitome of JJ trying to outsmart the NFL.

On the bright side, if we select a QB at 4 with a 2-3 year learning curve behind a great QB Payton would be crazy to pass that up if he is available.

I think Dallas is smoke screening here. Garrett and Jones got Peyton Manninged on thanksgiving national television by RG3 and seemed to know the QB position just fine then. Prob. Trying to keep his price down or keeping up the charade that they might draft a QB in the draft. I bet RG3s first and last team visit in March is to Jerrys house.

I think no playoffs in 2016 proves Garrett isnt the awnser. He would be a mockery at that point.

It doesnt look like the next two drafts are going to be QB rich. Watson and Kelly look like the best hopes in 2017, and both are somewhat questionable. I think developing a Wentz, Goff or Lynch would be a strong pull for Payton. Goff IMO is the best fit for what Payton likes to do right now, but will alter his system around talent. Payton system is very short and intermediate heavy, but it works because he takes deep shots and keeps the field open

Red and his merry men couldn't teach how many back up Qb's after Romo was done? So what makes you think they can teach RG3. These coaches do not know how to adapt without Romo at the controls.

I can see that if you're talking about starting players, but do you really think the offense should change completely for every play where the backup QB has to come in?

of course not.

all teams build around 1 qb. no other qb could possibly back up romo so why get one?

ive seen the error of my unclear thinking. building around ONE player is clearly the preferred method.
