Yes, but it was a different set of circumstances. Haley's first year was all rainbows and sunshine for Dallas. He was one of the catalysts that pushed us over the top. If he had acted the way he did during a 4-12 season, I don't know if Johnson would have kept him.

Hardy's set of circumstances needed a season where he helped propel Dallas toward a Super Bowl. (Even making the NFC title game would have probably been acceptable.) Bad seasons magnify bad perceptions.

I think it's an easy out to say Garrett doesn't want Hardy because he's a weak coach because there are obviously a whole lot of coaches who don't want Hardy right now and certainly didn't last year.

Let me alter this a little to say that Johnson would have probably stuck it out for a while with Haley even if we were losing because we had several draft picks invested in him.

How about that helmet toss at the owner's head after the 0-2 start? Hardy is a choir boy compared to how Haley acted, and a saint compared to LT.

Definitely. If it had, we wouldn't be having this conversation, no matter how 'late' he was.

And you have every right to your opinion. But it's not the first time Garrett has tried to get rid of someone he - or a family member - "couldn't handle". Terrell Owens, Martellus Bennett, and Dan Reeves to name a few. And before someone tries to bring it up, I'm aware that Owens and Bennett are pains, but they actually produce too, like Hardy, while somebody else can't say the same.

And for the record, 31 other teams weren't interested last year either, so one more isn't a huge difference either way.

Actually, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows with Haley in 1992. At halftime of the game against the Broncos, Jimmy Johnson pulled Haley into the bathroom area, and took him into a stall. He proceeded to read him the riot act, and flushed the toilet and told him that if he didn't pick it up, this is where his career is going.

Make no mistake about it - Johnson and Haley butted heads over both seasons that they were together.

Why is it that I click on to the Benson Mayowa thread and end up in a Greg Hardy thread instead?:huh:

Good question.

I thought things would progress more quickly on this working up of an offer, and we would have heard something by now. I've resorted to reading up on how much our forgotten DE Ryan Russell from last year's draft may help this year. Focus always seems to be either free agents or this year's draft picks this time of year, but then have to be reminded that rookie pass rushers don't usually fare well, so our second year player stepping up would be exactly what should be expected.

Really? You'll apparently try to ignore the fact that the player's market was already terrible before he ever got here?

And then try to use it as some 'justification' now?
:laugh:

What do you mean? What does it matter what the player's market was when he got here? The fact is Garrett had the same issues with Hardy and Owens as every head coach they've ever played for. So tell me how, in your brilliance, that means this is a Jason Garrett issue?

I'd love to join in on this waste of time that is blaming Jason Garrett for the death of the Dallas Cowboys but I just know better.

Simply not true.

If you draft 7th round players in the 2nd round, you are doing it wrong.

If you draft a starter in the 7th round you have a starter. If you draft a bust in the 2nd round you have a bust. The object is to acquire talent to help the club. It does not matter where you find them.

Now if the argument is you can increase the odds of finding a player in the 2nd vs the 7th then you are on the winning side of that debate.

"Jimmy"... "winning"...samesies

true but Jimmy made winning euphoric. When he called the radio station and said put it in 3" headlines that they would beat the hated 49ers and then it happened was beyond any joy I've ever felt from a Cowboys win, especially after having to endure the 49ers success and never-ending replay of "the catch"

I don't like how Hardy behaved/came off....performed......

I also don't like how Dez behaved/came off...performed, the very year he got his franchise tag;

Having said that. It was a bad bad year in Dallas. One of the worst I can remember...

But we have to get behind/support Dez. And should probably Sign Hardy;
