Yes, but it was a different set of circumstances. Haley's first year was all rainbows and sunshine for Dallas. He was one of the catalysts that pushed us over the top. If he had acted the way he did during a 4-12 season, I don't know if Johnson would have kept him.
How about that helmet toss at the owner's head after the 0-2 start? Hardy is a choir boy compared to how Haley acted, and a saint compared to LT.
Hardy's set of circumstances needed a season where he helped propel Dallas toward a Super Bowl. (Even making the NFC title game would have probably been acceptable.) Bad seasons magnify bad perceptions.
Definitely. If it had, we wouldn't be having this conversation, no matter how 'late' he was.
I think it's an easy out to say Garrett doesn't want Hardy because he's a weak coach because there are obviously a whole lot of coaches who don't want Hardy right now and certainly didn't last year.
And you have every right to your opinion. But it's not the first time Garrett has tried to get rid of someone he - or a family member - "couldn't handle". Terrell Owens, Martellus Bennett, and Dan Reeves to name a few. And before someone tries to bring it up, I'm aware that Owens and Bennett are pains, but they actually produce too, like Hardy, while somebody else can't say the same.
And for the record, 31 other teams weren't interested last year either, so one more isn't a huge difference either way.
