Thornton was nice. I just wanted to see more. I said two months ago I wanted an aggressive FA period so that the front office felt it addressed 2016 enough to make them comfortable taking a QB in the 1st round. They didn't do that.
Now if they still take a QB, all is good in my world. But if this leads to a non QB pick like I suspect, hide all kittens. I'm kicking 50 yard FGs.
So what would you say is our two biggest OMGRIGHTNOW needs? Or scratch that. What do you think the front office believes are the two top needs?
I'd say DE and CB.
And there is your first two rounds next month. Bosa/Fuller, Ramsey/Dodd, something like that. I'd bet a week's worth of likes on it.
Work week. Weekend doesn't count.
I find it comical you can't admit the Cowboys tried to sign a player and came up short.
Does it threaten your fandom? Will it make you feel better if I say it happens with all teams?
What does Randle have to do with this? Hmm. Let's see.. Well.. The same dismissive attitude existed when some of us called Randle garbage from the jump. I sense that dismissive attitude again.... Soo. Presto. Comparison.
Someone needs to tell that to Mickey Spagnola because he thinks the only reason for 4-12 was Tony and Dez being out.
Yea.
-Letting our best DL walk
-Taking a passive approach to Free Agency and looking for instant impact in the draft
-Whiffing on multiple free agents
-Passing up a potential Franchise QB for a CB or DE
It literally gets no worse than that
QB is such a tough call. Especially at #4. My heart is saying "oh hell yeah" about drafting a QB this season. My head just isn't informed enough to say "we can't miss with this guy".
None of these guys are "Andrew Luck" locks. Honestly, none of them have distinguished themselves to be anything more or less than Christian Ponder, either. I hate the draft and FA this year because it's the first time since 89 that we actually "earned" this draft position and there isn't a lock to be found within the 1st 5 picks. We picked the worst season EVER to end up 4-12. I'm hating every minute of this off-season.
Do you realize the arrogance or ignorance it takes to put together their track record the last 20 years and then tell the fan base not to worry, their head isn't in the sand?
Isn't building through the draft what most sensible people have been saying for years? I guess I just fail to understand the outrage for not overpaying for average players.
I'm glad Stephen isn't using the injury excuse for our season last year. It was a factor, no doubt, but you should be able to win more than 4 games even with your best two players out.
I mean Randle ran well for us. He was just a knucklehead.
But what about his play made him garbage exactly?
I disagree with the bolded.
Ponder had shoulder issues coming out of Florida State that should have scared teams off. Goff nearly threw more touchdown passes in 2015 than Ponder threw in four years at FSU.
Goff is a far superior prospect than Christian Ponder was. Frankly, it's not even close. I also think that Wentz and Lynch are better prospects as well, and certainly have much higher upside.
The knock, if anything, with the QBs at the top of this class, is that none are truly a day one starter. The Cowboys have the advantage of not needing one of them to be ready day one, as they have Romo. The situation lines up perfectly.
It'd be a hard sell to try to replace Hardy's production with a rotation of Cedric Thornton and Benson Mayowa.
Some whiny posters said we whiffed on Demarco Murray, and Matt Forte, and Lamar Miller and others we never should have signed for the money they got. I guess they think if you keep saying over and over some numskull may believe it - until they too are corrected and sent to the corner.
The guys are clearly idiots
The likelihood of drafting enough game changers to make an impact in 2016 is not favorable
Do these guys think you can just find 5 game changers in one draft?
