Dallas Cowboys starting defensive end Demarcus Lawrence will be suspended for a failed offseason drug test, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told Chat Sports on Wednesday.

Lawrence tested positive for amphetamines, according to the source, which typically carries a penalty of four games. The Cowboys are expected to make an announcement regarding the suspension within the next 24 hours.

Lawrence, the No. 34 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, played in all 16 games (13 starts) for the Cowboys in 2015. He tallied 8.0 sacks and 55 tackles on the season, finishing the year with a sack in seven-straight games.

The Boise State product played in only seven games as a rookie after suffering a fractured right foot in training camp. Lawrence had a strong showing in the postseason, however, recording two sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In the Cowboys' wild card playoff game with the Detroit Lions, Lawrence's sack and fumble recovery with less than a minute to go punched Dallas' ticket into the next round.

Well...this sucks. That said, even with Hardy, Lawrence, etc...the team still went 4-12 minus Romo & Dez.

At least Marinelli is used to piecing together a patchwork line, similar to 2014. So it's not new ground for him.

In addition to the DE's, Scandrick & R. McClain have also of course been popped. All defensive players.

Still wouldn't base the selection on need, unless they really like say Bosa, and were considering taking him prior. They should stick to their board, or look for value in a trade if it presents itself, etc.

Funny how people say the Cowboys were an undisciplined mess under Switzer and Phillips, yet we get players getting popped for suspensions, killing teammates and the like on Garrett's watch. But he is forging a team full of scratching, clawing battlers and should have our gratitude.

As my grandmother used to say, don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out. Ain't nobody forcing you to be here. Your negativity pales in comparison to the negativity at the Eagle fan sites. Not many jumping up and down, celebrating the move to #2 which you seem to endorse as a stroke of genius. Thornton can play both DT and DE from what the coaches say. QB is yet to be seen and there wasn't much, if any, to choose from in FA. Bosa probably won't be the next JJ Watt but he will be far from a bust. And Hardy likely isn't getting any offers so far, from anyone.

Hmm...they would want to quit because they stand to lose millions of dollars. In cases closer to me....they might want to quit to keep their well paying jobs. No problem with medical marijuana for legit usage. And I wouldn't care if it was made legal to all. However, while it is illegal....I would think these people would quit smoking in order to keep their jobs, stay out of jail, etc.
