Dolphins Believed To Be Closing In On Deal With DE Jason Jones

Do you think that's what he gets from Miami? Honest question.

At this point in the offseason, I doubt he is willing to accept vet min of $1M. So, he is probably looking for at least as much as that DL from Oakland got from the Cowboys, 3 year $8M. I'm guessing he is asking around $4-5M/yr.

Well, that doesn't sound too bad. I don't know why the Cowboys didn't give him that especially now with Lawrence out the first 4 games.

the only thing i can think of...is we signed Jack Crawford instead for the same price.

I hope we draft Bosa and he has an explosive year that makes everyone look stupid. So much disrespect for an incrediblely talented player.

I don't think anyone would look stupid for not being excited about the guy.
This is a message board where we all share our impressions.
I've hears scouts say his potential upside is Michael Bennett of the Seahawks. Bennett is a good player who gets about 9-11 sacks per year. Fans want a #4 pick to be a special player. Maybe Bosa will be special. No reason to be upset over fans not seeing special when watching him play.

When you say J Crawford "can play out there", it doesn't fill me with any sense of confidence. And it doesn't when Stephen Jones tries to mention Tyrone Crawford playing there either.

Me either, but over the first 4 games of the season... It is what it is. LOL!

He's a "poor man's Greg Ellis".

He's better vs. the run than he is rushing the passer.

The Cowboys are possibly thinking they'll get a better player in the draft.

On top of that there are two DE's coming back after week 4.

That is also hoping said DE's dont fail another drug test in that time period.

It's one of those you're damned in you do and you're damned if you don't.

Bottom line, they're going to have to be relied on... Especially Lawrence.

I'd have to disagree on that. If anything, a player's market is only getting worse, with hundreds of rookies entering the NFL job market. I believe he wa getting around $3 million a year on his last contract in Detroit and I can't see him eclipsing that amount, especially at this time.

I'd be surprised if he made $2.5 million per year average.

The problem is drug issues. ...also his numbers for sacks wasn't great. Also we have a LDE.

Bosa could be Watt, or could be out the league in a couple years.

I don't care who we draft cause we need talent at all levels. If Bosa is the pick I hope he stays on the field and helps win games. If Elliot or Ramsey or Tunsil is the pick I feel the same. If we trade back. .....great add more talent

It's bizarre really, they go out of there way to pour on the hate. Prefer a running back instead when the team had a third rounder run for 1800 behind this line.

Get Zeke... Our offense is going to have to outscore every team we meet for the 1st month of the season.
We need to pound the rock and keep the scoring machine humming.

Interesting. Wonder if this means the dolphins would be willing to to trade off Wake and sign Norman? Perhaps then they could up the contract numbers for Josh.

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that free agent DE Jason Jones is believed to be closing in on an agreement with the Dolphins.

Jones has previously met with Steelers and Cowboys since free agency opened over a month ago before taking a second visit to the Dolphins last week.

There was talk that the Cowboys could turn their attention to signing Jones after the news thatDemarcus Lawrence is facing a four-game suspension, but it appears as though the Dolphinscould be his best option.

Jones, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Titans back in 2008. He played out his rookie contract with Tennessee and signed a free agent deal with the Seahawks. However, he spent just a year in Seattle before signing with the Lions the following year.

Jones is currently among the best available defensive linemen in the free agent market.

Dolphins will be spending $50 million on the defensive line

With the way the defense is shaking up, I agree we need to make the offense a scoring machine. Here's how I would do it. If Tunsil is there at 4, I take him and make him my right tackle for the next four or five years (when he hits his second contract, I would switch him and Tyron). I then draft one of the RBs in the second or third. With a healthy Romo, the best line in history, and a very good young RB, we have a chance.

My goal is the same as yours, I just believe that Tunsil maximizes the value of the 4th overall pick more than Zeke.

And I completely agree with you. And if we were to go that route, I would ask, would you rather have:

Tunsil and Derrick Henry in round 2?

Or

Ezekiel Elliot and Germain Ifedi in round 2?

Draft for value, not need.

That and I think you're going to see two DE's drafted within the four rounds.

You've got the kid from Oakland who's going to play a significant number of snaps.

J. Crawford can play out there... Then you've got two more guys coming back after 4.

Here what your saying but didn't they try that last year?
