The Cowboys odds where 16:1 in February to win the Super Bowl. After the free agency moves and the draft, we fell to 22:1.

It seems that Vegas didn't approve.

Not that Vegas gets everything right, but this is concerning. We should have the same odds or better after free agency and the draft, unless they felt that other teams improved more so they lowered our odds.

Only logic here

In 2014, the best prediction you could find for the Cowboys anywhere was 8-8 with most saying we would be lucky to win 6 or 7 games. We won 13 counting the playoffs and were a questionable ref call from getting to the championship game. In 2015, we were Super Bowl contenders with many analysts saying we were the NFC team to beat and we went 4-12.

None of this ever matters to me. The worse our odds, the worse the predictions, the happier I am. This team has always played better than expected when expectations have been low and they have played worse than expected when expectations have been high.

I always want to be the underdog so I hope the odds continue to get worse as the offseason continues.

One thing Vegas is missing as most, if/when Jaylon Smith gets healthy, Dallas just successfully rebuilt the 4/3 Defense adding Tapper/Collins/Frazier with last years Defensive Drafties Gregory/Jones/Wilson.

I think our defense will stink again and will blow games late as usual. 8-8 at best, probably worse

In this same time last year, Vegas had the Colts primed with the best odds to win the Super Bowl... Something about being so impressed with their FA signings including Frank Gore. We all know how that turned out... Sooooo.. Yeah.

"After I got released by the Texans, Frank called me," Johnson said, via ProFootballTalk.com. "He called me right after it happened and was just like, 'What are you gonna do?' I'm like, 'Frank, I don't know. I just got released. I don't know.' I asked, him 'Who do you think has the best chance to win a Super Bowl?' And he was like, 'Indy.' And I was like, 'That's my same choice too so let's do it, let's go for it.' And they were able to get both of us here."

CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

This team always plays better as the underdog.

Money could have been coming in more on other teams, so they lowered the odds to get people to those to increase their winnings. Vegas odds makers in a way hedging the bets already made.
They do this for themselves, and MONEY more so than predictions. Yes they are very good, great at it. But I would not take it as a prediction.

Denver was 12-1, Dallas was 14-1....so what did that say at the time last year.
Dang, i may just take Dallas now at 22-1 over 16-1 just like they want people to do. lol.

There was not a defensive player available with the 4th pick that would have had any impact this year. Defensive rookies takes a year or two to start making contributions. Usually the first year, they have limited playing time.

It's wide open.

Dallas should win the division if Romo is healthy but the Giants will probably be a handful.

I'm not worried about the Skins or Eagles.

  • The suspensions hurt. In fact, if Dallas makes the playoffs, an extra loss or two early may have cost them a 1st round bye or at least home field in Rd1.
  • Dallas' 2nd pick, which was essentially a 1st rounder at 34, gives them exactly zero in year 1...or at least that is the assumption. It's as if for one year they had no pick.
  • Also, I can recall a few teams with completely dominant defenses (but crappy offenses) winning a Super Bowl...but never the other way around.
  • Of all the areas that needed upgrading in Dallas, the RB was deemed one of the least by many outsiders. An ultra-premium pick , 4th overall (worth 2 mid 1st rounders) was used to do just that.

Here's hoping Romo and Dez stay healthy, Zeke runs wild, and the defense improves to at least average or better.:flagwave:

The suspensions do hurt but our first 4 games are...

Giants

Commanders

Bears

9ers

I feel like we should come out of that 3-1.
