Saints and Colts.

The Saints defense led the NFL in turnovers by a large margin that Super Bowl year.

The Colts are pretty good one, they're defense was only 21st and although they had more takeaways than turnovers, that was mostly due to Manning not turning it over vs them getting takeaways.

LOL.....yet people are talking about how our DE and DT we took with the 4th and 3rd round picks are going to make in impact. Who cares about short term thinking? Is that all you care about? Making the playoffs and a few more wins? How about winning the SB or building a contender? It always amazes me how you guys would willing sacrifice building a championship team just to watch the Cowboy have a shot to win a few more games immediately.

And there is no way you can tell me that Bosa would not have played better than some 4th round DE or raiders cast off. Or that Ramsey wouldnt have been better than Claiborn at CB. You have to be joking with think kind of laughable nonsense.

Bosa was not available with the 4th pick. I was not a fan of Bosa , but he was the only pass rusher worth drafting top ten in this draft. DBs are useless unless you have the a pass rush. You are assuming that I was on the Zeke bandwagon and I have said repeatedly that I am not. However, I do think that a great RB is worth the 4th pick if he is one of the great ones. Zeke may just have that kind of a career. I have said before that I don't see it yet. You are also assuming that Zeke won't be here long term and become key player for the team. You don't know how long of a career that he is going to have. He doesn't have enough injury history to be concerned about. This team is set up to be a power, physical running team. It is in their best interest to have a great RB that can carry the load. I wanted one if the top QBs for the long term. That was my first preference. I have not made the first comment about the DL that was picked in the mid-rounds. You are putting words in my mouth or you are confusing me with another poster. I have stated many times that I was not in favor of picking Ransey. I believe that the DL has to be fixed first. Trying to build s defense by using top picks and resources on DBs have failed time after time with this team. There is no denying that. History is set in stone. Ramsey is no D. Sanders and he is not even close. I am guilty of thinking long-term as much as any poster on this board. I have no problem with the Zeke pick, because there was not a QB or DL rated high enough to draft over Zeke. I don't think Zeke can walk in a water, but he was a polished RB in college. I hope that carries over to the pros and I hope that I am wrong and he is great. There are serious, valid questions about Ramsey's stiff hips, ball skills and his ability to play CB. He was the top rated DB in the draft, but not the top CB. He can play multiple positions, but he is not the best at any of them. Dallas does not have a ballhawk on the defense , so Ramsey would have fit in just fine. He would not improve the lack of turnovers and that is a major red flag. I am sorry for the long list being in poor form , but my phone won't let me break it down in paragraphs.

Bears and 49ers are trash. Giants is a home game. You can't lose a home game in the division. They should be 3-1 out of the shoot.

In recent years, having the home field advantage is not an advantage for Dallas. The team struggles to win at home every year.

So we didn't add any talent to the DL?

Also, is Lawrence and Gregory done for the year? I was not aware of this if ture.

They didn't add a top pass rusher or top DT. Mid round picks are not draft high for a reason. They are not as talented. There are several threads over the last few months debating the lack of talent on the DL. A couple mid-round picks that will be rotational players is not a big infusion of talent. Lawrence is the one bright spot on the line. His career is really taking off. Gregory is an unknown with talent, but his drug problems may never allow him to be a top player on this defense. Yeah, I said it. Mid-round picks are not as much if a infusion of talent as the defense needs.

FWIW, I saw a 2017 mock draft based on where Vegas oddsmakers projected finish. They had Dallas projected to pick 25th, and taking a 5'10" 176lb CB from a D 2 school.

Db's are useless unless you have a pass rush? Your logic is ridiculous. Who said that Ramsey is the next Sanders?

You dont even make sense. So I guess we will never had a D in Dallas because D players are useless and they dont impact immediately? Its short term thinking like this that keeps the Cowboys at 500.

Great point !!!

Great point? WE just rebuilt the defense? Where do you people come from? Seriously some of you guys are completely out of your minds reality vs what you come up with in your heads.

But still...you mentioned great defenses. Turnovers are huge but they couldn't stop anyone.

A 3rd round DT this year is not the usual 3rd round DT because of the depth of the position.

The Cowboys think they got a very good player in him. I admit...I haven't watched his tape yet but I will.

I also see Tapper being a good player. I have watched him and see him really adding to our DL.

You can't say that Thorton isn't an upgrade and that Mayora isn't likely better than Mincemeat...

Money could have been coming in more on other teams, so they lowered the odds to get people to those to increase their winnings. Vegas odds makers in a way hedging the bets already made.
They do this for themselves, and MONEY more so than predictions. Yes they are very good, great at it. But I would not take it as a prediction.

Denver was 12-1, Dallas was 14-1....so what did that say at the time last year.
Dang, i may just take Dallas now at 22-1 over 16-1 just like they want people to do. lol.

yes this is about gambling, but they also dont want to give big odds on a team that they think could
go all the way.
So it is a eval of the teams, with other things mixed into it.

I don't think that we are that bad. It's just that other teams seemingly did better in the draft and FA and began with a better load of veterans than we. Result, our bigger odds.

Cowboys were 16th in points allowed, they were 31st in points scored.

When did this perception begin about how terrible the defense would be? Coach Rod will get good enough to win with play from his defense.

For my money, our defensive line should be more talented than the 2014 team, especially if we get anything out of Gregory.

The Cowboys odds where 16:1 in February to win the Super Bowl. After the free agency moves and the draft, we fell to 22:1.

It seems that Vegas didn't approve.
Vegas represents public perception. So the action on the first odds started falling and Vegas found the odds where the betting normalized. I want the odds to get worse so that it will be a better bet.
