It's a reminder that Dallas really did make a hard effort last year to secure decent backups.
The problem is that only about 1/2 to 2/3 of NFL teams even have decent-to-good starters, so having a decent backup is even more difficult.

Anyway
The Titans signed Matt Cassell so felt Mettenberger was expendable.
The Texans signed Brandon Weeden and decided to keep him this year over several others.

If he is better than Moore, that makes him an upgrade. The last time I checked, that is a good thing.

The Titans are 5 and 27 the last two years...hard to pin that on just the QB.

We definitely agree on this. And this actually would work out exactly the way I'd hope. I still very much like Prescott, as I watched him play every weekend..the kid has talent and if given a chance to develope could be atleast a very good back-up. But I believe Mettenberger is on par, talent wise, as most of the guys mentioned in this years draft. Let him and Prescott sit behind Romo and learn. We would be in great shape at back-up QB. And this still wouldn't stop us from drafting a guy next year if the coaches don't see progressive development. I say, do it. Dak and Zach!!

Besides Griffin they have McCown who would be 2.5m in dead money if they cut, plus Austin Davis, Terrell Pryor and Connor Shaw. Better backup situation than we have at the moment.
