They made the mistake of sitting on the QB situation last year. Then had to make a trade. Seemed reasonable at the time, but turned out not so much.
I wouldn't mind bringing him in for some competition. If they choose not to bring him in, then I won't rue it either.

Moore should not be handed the backup role, he needs to earn it. I don't think Prescott should be thrown into the fire, if he is to be groomed to be successful. But then again, why not, see what he can do. Though prefer he sits a few years. Unless another QB drops in their laps in the next few drafts.
Showers is not the answer either.

So bring someone in, let Moore and Prescott show why they are here, and earn their roster spots.

To me, you have invested a 4th rd pick in Prescott, he is the developmental guy and number 3. You bring Mettenberger in to compete with Moore for #2.

Best case scenario, I think nearly all of us would agree, would be for Prescott to do a Russell Wilson imitation, and blow people away in TC. I actually see him competing with Moore for #2 simply b/c Moore is only ahead of a Prescott by virtue of his knowing the system like he does. So, to my mind, we already have Kellen Moore's competitor on the roster... no need to add another one.

to me, you bring him in to compete with everyone. you award 2, 3 and gone after the pre-season games and you get to see them play first.

Mettenberger's an option, but he'd need to be the QB2 coming into the season. Not my favorite type of player, but I guess he's an option here before camp.

If he is better than Moore, that makes him an upgrade. The last time I checked, that is a good thing.

He couldn't beat out Matt Castle so what makes him worth our time and money?

as much as i wanted to jump on this little nugget and wave it around in front of everyone, they're also 2 players at different stages in their career. boykin could still be "learning" so to speak and they don't want their starter AND backup doing that.

why people look at one move to define a picture baffles me.

There is no reason NOT to put a claim in.

There is though. We just committed to developing Prescott. He needs snaps. We can't have another guy here taking that away.

Zach was a marginal college prospect. He did little in the pros to establish that he could play well at this level.

Cowboys could not take heat of a domestic abuser like Hardy but willing to take chance on a convicted sexual batterer, especially at the most publicly scrutinized position of QB?

Don't think so. Plus he does not fit Jones profile for the position, no mobility.
