I find it comical that posters are behind this pick now, but they would have rioted if you told them that Smith would be the second round pick the day before the draft. He was not even in the conversation as the second round pick. A few posters said they would take a chance on him with a late round pick, but nobody had expectations of him playing this season. Now they are starting a countdown with the hopes that an inch a month is going to happen.

We have received more info since before the draft and have had time to reflect
You have to wade through some bad info along with correct info and that takes a little time.
I was surprised like many here at first

If they'd taken Lynch in the 2nd everybody would be talking about what a great pick he was...... except he wouldn't see the field this year either. What's the hurry?

Elliot is for now; Smith is for later....

Lmao! That's cute!

And you are right about Lynch, though it might have even been 2 or 3 years before he would have played.

So as a fan you not allowed to criticize a decision. Hell I love my son but he makes bonehead decisions all the time. Does that mean I can trade up for a new one?

it's the degree and then will come the dasy Smith is a great LB and you'll say thats great but

Too many needs to take that risk. That's why bad teams stay bad. What would NE, GB, Pitt do if they had the 4th?

Just curious...with both DEs Dallas was targeting gone right in front of them who did you want them to draft instead of Smith?

Chris Jones, Noah Spence, Reggie Ragland, Myles Jack, Hell Hunter Henry would of been Romo friendly.

Myles Jack is limited in practice already and a ticking time bomb with an arguably more problematic injury.
Noah Spence and Randy Gregory in the same position group doesn't sound like a good idea and the writing on the wall is their jettison of 76.
Ragland cannot cover and personally I have had my fill of bad coverage in the middle of the field.
Chris Jones is more a power player for all his poor pad level as opposed to the quick twitch type of player we like. Collins otoh is.

I believe the 2 top targets the Cowboys were looking at were Ogbah and Dodd. When both went off the board back to back the Cowboys got a little panicked.
To me the Jaylon Smith pick is a risk/reward pick. And I see the reward way out weighing the risk.
I figured Jack would have been the pick if the Cowboys wanted to roll the dice.

I think an inch a month is great...all my wife gets!

Talk your trash but Jaylon's a far better prospect than #65 Overall Dexter Coackley who could cover ground sideline to sideline and made the 4/3 hum like a well oiled machine ... just not near at the same level as Smith.

If he is already doing resistance bands training on the field aren't we out of the woods on the nerve damage aspect of the injury?

Myles Jack is limited in practice

He is? Funny, last I heard he just wrapped up classes at UCLA on the 10th, which had kept him from participating in any workouts until this coming Monday.

I'm sure by "limited in practice", you meant "banned from participating under NFL rules because he was still finishing classes", but what do those details matter when it's about the agenda.

He wears a special device to compensate for his drop foot - he currently has no control of lowering/raising his foot. That's the issue being madly discussed, whether the nerves that allow him to control his foot will heal, and if so, when.

It was so far beyond worth the risk it's not funny!!! He will start next year and be the best LB in football within 3-4 years, mark it down!

I love the optimism. I hope you're right. I didn't know much about him while at ND. I saw some film of him playing and I have to admit I would need to see more to say he was worth the pick. Does anyone have any links to Youtube or something that would really show his worth? Either way, water under the bridge...but man I hope he's worth it.

Do you keep on criticizing your kid or do you do it when it happened and move on?

We didn't draft him 4th and NE took Easley who had an injury in the first round. ......we took Jaylon in the 2nd round and he is more talented then Dom Easley

Poppinga was talking about it on the radio and saying that he was not cleared to practice fully. This makes sense considering the injury.

And please come up with another term than 'agenda.' What exactly is my agenda anyway? That I don't like football players with degenerative injuries to their knee?

Was not worth the risk.

What did you risk? Now, Jerry had something to risk, and he liked the odds. I liked the guts it took to take the chance. Shows he is willing to take risks to make this team great.

He could have played it safe and got a DT or CB that was safe, and most likely not remembered in 5 years. But he took a chance on what would have one of the best players available.
