Buddy, you like Jason Garrett and you defend Quincy Carter. Those two things right there just proves without a shadow of a doubt that your ability to analyze football and separate your emotional love for the team conflict with one another.

It looks like you're reading wrong again. We're 15 or so years after the fact, here. As fans, we should be able to discuss some of the reasons *why* Quincy Carter failed in Dallas while still acknowledging that he did, in fact, fail here.

The fact that you can't separate those things goes a long way towards explaining why you seem so confused in your responses in some of the current-day thread topics. There are differences between 'reasons' and 'excuses.' And things can be not-good-enough without being all-bad.

I wasn't, actually. I liked Hutchinson better. Not sure if that's better or worse in your universe. But I did also always feel for Quincy. As I said, he was in a nearly impossible situation.

Tempted to ask why you think I have a 'homer agenda,' but I know if I do you're just going to try to explain in and we'll be in another one of those debates where I just end up wanting to punch myself in the face for engaging in the first place.

I liked anyone but Carter. The term on the old board was ABC. So yah, I was rooting for Hutch, Henson, anyone ect.....ect......

As far as the homer thing, I will give you credit that you arent as bad as some. But your love for Garrett is just too much to get over. How can ANYONE like Jason Garrett as our head coach? You just have to be the biggest homer in the world to like that clown as our head coach. After 8 years of watching him coach here in Dallas, there is just NOOOOOOO way. WE deserve better.

And your "its all about passing" in the NFL thing is a little too simplified for my tastes as well. We do seem to agree about the importance of developing a great defense for a championship run so at least we share that.

Quincy Carter was terrible, what other reasons do you need? He was a mental midget and he was completely inaccurate. One small level above Tim Tebow when it comes to inaccurate. His own team mates called him AFLAC because his balls were so bad. Remember how he wasnt a "practice player"?

The guy could use his feet, that was about all that he could do. At the time Jerry was obsessed with guys like Randall Cunnhingham and wanted his own Cunningham so he took Carter waaaaay too early and handed him the keys. By far and a away the worst time for me as a Cowboys fan.

LOL..........your memory is about as bad as your ability to analyze. Too funny. You were the Quincy Carter King, see how you cant make us forget? And I defended Romo against guys like you every day. Are you man enough to admit you were dead wrong? Surely that debate has been long put to bed by Romo. But to set the record straight I havent predicted winning any SB's since the 90's.

It doesn't get better than my memory, no one has ever taken more posters on a trip down memory lane with their quotes and old threads like I have. No one other than maybe Jhalp had more threads/posts come back to haunt them more than you. It's easy for you to deny what you were saying 13-14 years ago when those boards no longer exist but there's posters like Randy and Fmart who come here that remember you from years ago. I was never in support of Quincy Carter. I had hopes for him like all of us did but never saw a future in him but YOU did. You defended EVERY player back then because you were a HOMER. I never thought Romo would amount to what he has, only JHalp did and that was the only thing he ever got right. You were DEAD WRONG all the time and took off from those boards because you got tired of everyone laughing at your old threads. Lol You weren't predicting SB wins but you were predicting SB "appearances" and that's a FACT! Practically every year you were predicting the Cowboys would end up in the SB. I remember one year you denied predicting they would go to the SB and I slammed you with your quote and you took off for a few weeks.

Carter certainly didn't measure up to the solid starting QBs the Cowboys have had throughout their history but don't kid yourself he had his moments where he looked impressive and gave us a little hope. As a rookie on a team that had virtually no talent offensively and a horrid OL he won 3 games. He didn't have a security blanket like Jason Witten at TE. Against the Giants in week 13 he completed almost 66% of his passes with a TD and a passer rating of 100.5. Against SF in week 16 he completed 60% of his passes with 2 TD's, no int's and had a passer rating of 118.9. During his second season he put up 240 yards against Tenn with 2 TD's and no int's and finished with a passer rating of 120.1.

He won 3 of 7 starts that season which is a lot better than what we've gotten from the QBs that have had to take over for Romo the past 3 years. Those QBs were 1-13 on offenses that were far more talented than the offenses Carter had. Carter won 10 games in his 3rd season leading the Cowboys to the playoffs. He completed 72% of his passes vs Detroit that season with 3 TD's and no int's finishing with a passer rating of 133.3. He only took one sack in that game. He had 3 games that season with passer ratings over 100.0. He had some talent, Parcells said so himself and called Carter to give him a chance in Miami but he was having drug issues. It was is drug issues that got him cut from the Cowboys and ruined his career.

Your recollection is correct. The woefully untalented Cowboys teams went 10-6 and a playoff birth with Quincy Carter as the starting quarterback.

He was more than just a scrub. He had talent, but his drug issues did him in.

NO one is going to believe that drivel anyway. Me predicting SB's sounds dumb. All I do is cut up the team.

Actually, Jerry Jones wanted his own Donovan McNabb not his own Randall Cunningham.

And if a non-talented bumb (as you say) like Quincy Carter could take a talentless roster to the playoffs, that doesn't speak very highly of Romo, who can't get a better team past the divisional round of the playoffs.

Just saying.

I figured it was the Garrett thing, but that always confuses me. Generally speaking, I think the team isn't more successful because we haven't made adding DL talent a priority and because of multiple limitations placed on how the organization does things because of the owner. I don't why the fact that I don't see the problem as being the HC somehow makes me a "homer." Sure, I might be wrong about JG (I'm not, but I *could* be). But that just means I was wrong about the causes of some of the losses. It's like like I sit around predicting Superbowls. Or that I think our players are magically better than everybody else's.

At the end of the day, I don't much mind a 'homer' label, because it really only means I defend the team in arguments more often than not, and there are a lot of stupid critical arguments out there. But, personally, I feel like I've been fairly critical of the organization this offseason because I didn't like a lot of the directions we've gone here. So it always surprises me when I hear some people say I've got an agenda.

Now, if you'd said I had an agenda on the board against purely-negative posters, that I could understand. That's definitely true.

I really haven't said anything about Quincy that Bill Parcels didn't say in his quote after he cut him. I'll just stand pat on those comments from Bill that I already quoted and leave it at that. If that makes me and Bill 'Quincy Homers' in your book, well, Bill and I will just have to live with that the rest of our lives somehow.

You're the liar, you said several months ago you were putting me on ignore. Lol Keep on telling the truth and you'll put me on ignore? You don't think Randy and Fmart will back what I'm saying about you? They remember your antics. You cut up the team now but you were a HOMER years ago. You went from a homer to a hater everyone joked about that on the last board we all were on. You don't remember that? You don't want to remember!

You have been more critical this off season. I have noticed that. But you cant blame posters being negative when there are so many issues with this team. Even Stephen Jones admits he is worried about losing a whole generation of fans. Its because he knows how poorly we have performed overall for a long time.

As far as Garrett I will just never understand it. And nothing you can say can change that. I have watched the guy bumble his job for 8 years. This is where the low standards thing comes in for me. For although you MAY feel Garrett is a decent coach I want the best. Not some coach in training or any kind of nonsense. Jerry should be hiring the best coaches in the NFL not looking for quality puppets.

Legitimate Question: Would you go out and get a backup QB now, or trust in Dak/Showers to get it done as the backup QB based on what you have seen so far?

Personally, I would go with Dak/Shawers and hope Romo made it through the year unscathed. That is the best off all worlds. Dak and Showers get all the backup reps, we save a ton of cap money, and we get to figure out if Dak/Showers can eventually be good enough to carry the team.

If they are, then we hit the jackpot. If not, well that is important information, which is better to know sooner rather than later.

It's my absurd opinion, in 2001, if the Cowboys don't cut Tony Banks in training camp, they win nine games and make the playoffs.

Bill Parcells was an idiot if he ever thought Carter was good. Parcells was one of the worst coaches we ever hired. The day he decided that Quincy was going to be his QB was the day he lost me. By the time he came to Dallas the game had passed him by. His GM duties were way better than his abilities as a head coach. Quite frankly without LT Parcells woudl be just another head coach.

Its too late to get a veteran backup now. At this point, I would run with what we have. If Romo goes down, might as well throw in the towel, let Prescott play and get a top 10 pick anyway.

I wonder how LA fans felt about it, and fisher and the owner, They won the game, but the guy they gave up a lot to pick high,
looked pitiful compared to our 4th round pick, who looked great.

In fact dak looked so good, I was thinking lets just bench romo and make dak the starter !
Even tony at times was looking like he was thinking wow this guy make take my job.

A qb cant play much better than dak did, and he looked comfy doing it.

So now if some teams knock tony out of the game it could be a mistake ??

Anyway just one game, but he did look very good. I was surprised by it.

I did feel sorry for showers having to play with the scrubs, hope at some point he gets
to play with the first team,so we can see how he does then.

But just seeing them both play this one game I dont think they should bring in a vet at all.
I think dak and showers could win games better than any vet they would get.

Wow is this guy for real? Please do us all a favor and quit posting on the internet.

We are all dumber after reading that.

He also had by far the best supporting cast. He was impressive, but it was just 12 throws. Many awful qb's have stretches of 12 throws that they look great during.

Hopefully, he will be able to build from the game.
