Should Dak play vs the Texans

Absolutely yes. Now that they know that Dak is the starter week one they need to take this opportunity to do a little install and do things with him that are going to be required of a starter. You cannot play scared here. If we are going to have any chance this season he needs to be as ready as he can be for the Giants.

This is a unique situation. I'd say normally he should get snaps because he's going to need them but if he's going to start the game behind the 2nd team OL, or a patchwork OL, I say no.

I'll be a dissenting voice....yes, Dak should play at least a quarter.
He needs the reps and the confidence. Sitting out an entire game will just allow first game nerves to grow. Give him 2-3 series to do something positive; then sit down.

If he plays then they need the whole starting offense to play. No reason to play him with backups.

You need Dak for 16 games I don't see the point in trying to protect him when he clearly needs reps. Him going down in week 4 preseason is no worse than him going down in week 1.

Hate to break it to you people. But we were not winning a Super Bowl with Romo this year. We are not winning a Super Bowl with Dak this year. Dak needs to play. The starters need to play. This is a young team that NEEDS the reps. So I would get Dak, the OL, Elliot out there for a couple of seasons. What are we hiding? What are we protecting? It is high time for this organization and fanbase to RECOGNIZE who we REALLY are. We are .500 outfit...that have only been .500 BECAUSE of Romo. Now that Romo is gone...let's get these young guys ready to play. So this coaching staff is actually going to have to DO THEIR JOBS...and stop living off the arms/brain/legs of Tony Romo. The gig is up. And while I doubt very highly Jerry knows what he is doing...perhaps someone in that front office will be able to truly evaluate Garrett and convince Jerry what route to take going forward as pertains to Garrett.

I bet we make a move for a backup...and the backup plays @ least a half.

Yes...worth the risk. The more reps the better. If Dak gets injured the final preseason game, what makes people think that wouldn't have happened the first regular season game then if kept out?

Yes, but only if your starting offensive line is out there! He needs all the reps he can get. Hes about to be thrown to the wolves. If he cant make it past another couple quarters of preseason football then heck with it.

Opening day isnt the superbowl. Like missing a half of football is magically going to propel him through 16 weeks.

Can you imagine rolling into the season w/ Jameil Showers as your starter...and the backup being?????

That's the risk your taking playing a meaningless pre-season game.

I think Dak and the starters should play for a while given that he found out today he is the starting QB and has potentially a whole season to get through. He needs the reps more than Showers.

No way, with our luck he will get hurt, its not like the Texans are going to play their starters, so what is he going to get out of it?

Practice in front of a crowd in real-life game situations. Last chance before he starts against the Giants.
