Disagree..

Milton has been so good since he came into the league that it will be nothing but a distraction for him to be on the roster.

Maye having a bad game will result in fans and media calling for him to play. He’s been that impressive.

I take it you mean preseason?

Not always true.
Sometimes a team moves on from players because they decide to go in a different direction.
Maybe the want the current QB's backup to be similar in style.

Milton wanted out of NE, and they gave him permission to seek a trade. They accommodated him, and took less for him to go to Dallas. That means they thought highly of him enough to do that for him.

Sometimes it is just a numbers game. They may feel comfortable where they are with the QB's, but want that roster spot for another position.

Dallas carried 3 QB's into TC last season. They never entertained the idea of a 4th to compete. They used that roster spot for another unneeded WR instead. They should have used it for a LB.

He was the talk of the Patriots Training camp / Preseason.

He also had a fantastic game against Buffalo.

He clearly has elite tools and it’s shown up ever since he’s stepped into the NFL.

Since he’s been in the league Milton has done nothing but impress.

I know a lot of you are hyper focused on Dallas so you wouldn’t know that the word all through last training camp in Patriot land is Milton looked like their best QB and if you knew nothing about Maye or Milton and had to guess which one was a top pick it looked like Milton.

He gets 1 start last year and looked EXTREMELY impressive.

So it’s you that’s tapping the breaks and not what’s actually happened on the actual NFL football field.
I actually watched some of his preseason games last year. People are impressed by him for the same reasons he was drafted in the first place. He’s a big athletic strong arm QB. Unfortunately he doesn’t know how to run a NFL offense let alone a college one. He can make throws a lot of guys can’t but he also can’t make throws a lot of guys can. He’s mainly a first read then scramble guy, Throw hard all the time to the outside. No touch with him and some of the best QBs in the league make the most important passes with little velocity

The hype the patriots traded him off of was the bills game which was essentially a preseason game. He’s talented enough to run past and throw over NFL backups in a semi meaningless game, but can you project him to ever do that against a starting eagles defense? That extremely athleticism is nice to fall back on but you need to be able to run an nfl offense and operate within the scheme or you’ll just go three and out or turn the ball over and over against quality nfl defenses.

Lastly I promise you if Milton was even REMOTELY close to Maye in camp, in the qb room, etc, like you state, they would not have traded him and especially not for only a 5th. I’m sure internally they know he’s miles away from Maye and decided to dump the distraction that he would cause by fans enamored with his play. Guess who’s going to have that distraction now?

OK.

241 yds w/ 1 TD is not even close to fantastic. Sounds like he dumped off a bunch of passes and didn't turn the ball over.

And since he ran 10 times for 16 yds vs BUFF, maybe he's not such a great runner?
