Injury maybe similar to last fracture, transverse process, he may play against NY, let's see what happens. If not Dak looked good against Rams and Sea first defense.

The transverse process was a much more minor injury- those are just those tiny little bones you see sticking out of the spine in those pictures we saw in science class. A compression fracture to the vertabrae at least sounds a lot scarier...

Correctamundo, pure spectulation. Just like last year when they said his collar bone was ready to go, on the shorter time line.....Jones are in pure PR mode.
Exactly. I don't believe anything they say. He may be back in 2 to 4 weeks. It doesn't mean he's going to be ready. I heard the same stuff last year.

Well, I've waded through 31 pages of mostly negative dung, and finally found an athlete's point of view.

And let me dispense some of your worst fears --
Tony could play next week if he had to.

A subtle compression fracture that requires an MRI for diagnosis is really minor. Yes, it's broken, but it's not displaced and there's absolutely no structural instability. There's no disc herniation, nerve compression, or limitation of motion. I've managed hundreds of these, and they are uncomplicated. Only severe compression that might be seen with osteoporosis requires intervention.

My guess is that Tony will miss 3 games at most.

You can all him unlucky, but his injuries include a pilonidal cyst (minor lumbo-sacral condition),
partial lumbar nerve compression (micro-surg.),
lumbar transverse process fracture (minor),
the well-chronicled clavicle injuries (healed),
and now the L1 minimal compression.
His legs and throwing arm are completely spared, and none of the afore-mentioned issues is likely to result in anything more than the obligatory football arthritis. Things could be much worse.

He also has not had the worrisome concussion history that plagued previous Cowboy QBs.

Can y'all just get your popcorn ready and relax?

Or have you already wagered too much on this season?

Either way, there are millions of undernourished people in the world, and if you help one you'll feel really good.

Wished you would have chimed in earlier in this thread. Great info.

Yes.

And, by unlucky, I strictly mean situational. In the sense of not only how minor the injuries that have plagued him over these few years have truly been in the grand scheme of things, but the timing behind them, as well.

My popcorn's been ready. It's an unfortunate situation, but no love is lost, my friend. :)

Even when Romo comes back, he'll get hurt again, it's inevitable. The guy is a broken down 36 year old QB with no mobility left, he's done.

Some on here are absolutely giddy at the prospect of Romo being out half the season and are wishing for more. I hope karma pays them a visit.

personal karma only (i.e. dont want Dak to fail for the sake of karma)

Not sure what you are talking about here, Romo's already been paid his signing bonus and he's not due any other bonus money. He's only due his yearly salary, now obvioulsy he got hurt in a football game, so Dallas can't release him to avoid paying him his salary this year. Even if they could, it would be completely unprecedented to release a player who was injured in a game for you. As far as next year goes, if we don't think his pay matches his role, we'll release him. It won't be a situation where he hold us hostage.

My point is that I don't want to see Romo - or any player - hanging around to collect a paycheck when their health no longer allows them to hold up their end of the contract. Completely hypothetical at this point.

Yeah, good info Doc. The FS1 scroll says he is day to day. Not sure where that info is coming from

One more minor thing to add: the Cowboys are probably going to use their one allowed "injured reserve-designated for return" spot for Romo.

Which means Kellen Moore, the early favorite for that spot, is either going on season ending IR or getting cut altogether.

I don't think Moore was getting - or worth - that treatment anyway. Ship's sailed on him. Best of luck.

Dear Tony Romo,
Don't listen to delusional Dallas fans or Owner/GM's who want you out there for their own selfish reasons. You have all the money you'll ever need, a hot **** wife and two young boys who want their dad playing backyard ball with. For your own health do what's best. I would just go home and enjoy some WEED infused Crownies and work on that ever growing beer belly...

Certainly did not want to imply that. I will root for Dak as much as I did/will for Romo. It just kind of bothered me to see so many people seem to be happy that Tony was down. I'll get over it.

I an see Daks performance having a big impact on how long Romo is out. If Dak is lighting up the score board then Romo will he given time to heal. If it's a repeat of last season where we couldn't even find the endzone them Romo will be getting pain shots and come to the rescue.

Man I feel bad for Romo. There has never been a player I want to win a Superbowl than Romo. The guy deserves it.

Tony is competitive to a fault. It's him that wants to win a championship more than the fans or owner want one.
The guy is a competitor like few are.

This is the slant I'm taking...although I do think Dakota will have some rookie flubs so some leeway will be given. Overall Dallas can at least see a large sample size in order to determine whether to hedge their bets early in the 2017 draft. Even before my QB's injury and admittedly well before Dakota has impressed in preseason, I have wanted Dallas to draft another QB next season to hedge their bets on my QB (Antonio Ramiro) and Dakota.
LOL. Already looking ahead to next draft. The issue is are schedule is weak this year. At worst I see 5 wins. I think the team needs 3-13 to get the first pick.
