Don't forget...Jerry and Romo has told us he can play 5 more years. The snow job they have pulled over this fanbase is not even funny to me anymore. It is sad. I posted something yesterday that I am contemplating posting again.....in a nutshell...so many people simply don't get it. This organization is comfortable. Why? Because they are building new buildings, selling more merchandise...and making so much money. The track record of the GM. The lack of on field success from the head coach. The stat padding of certain players...all of that has developed into one big deflection. This fanbase has been assured that everything is alright. In spite of our .500 existence. It is truly a sad joke.
yea thats all the FO does is give snow jobs. the dialog on this thread is pathetic

What part of Physically unable to perform (PUP)..... Do you not understand?.

Ask yourself that question.

A player cannot be placed on the PUP list, however, once he has taken the field for a practice, even if only for a few minutes.

Thanks for the memories Tony, time to walk away while you still can.

It's Dak's team now, I don't think he will look back.

Well, I've waded through 31 pages of mostly negative dung, and finally found an athlete's point of view.

And let me dispense some of your worst fears --
Tony could play next week if he had to.

A subtle compression fracture that requires an MRI for diagnosis is really minor. Yes, it's broken, but it's not displaced and there's absolutely no structural instability. There's no disc herniation, nerve compression, or limitation of motion. I've managed hundreds of these, and they are uncomplicated. Only severe compression that might be seen with osteoporosis requires intervention.

My guess is that Tony will miss 3 games at most.

You can all him unlucky, but his injuries include a pilonidal cyst (minor lumbo-sacral condition),
partial lumbar nerve compression (micro-surg.),
lumbar transverse process fracture (minor),
the well-chronicled clavicle injuries (healed),
and now the L1 minimal compression.
His legs and throwing arm are completely spared, and none of the afore-mentioned issues is likely to result in anything more than the obligatory football arthritis. Things could be much worse.

He also has not had the worrisome concussion history that plagued previous Cowboy QBs.

Can y'all just get your popcorn ready and relax?

Or have you already wagered too much on this season?

Either way, there are millions of undernourished people in the world, and if you help one you'll feel really good.

Thanks for the professional opinion Doc50, following a solid post by @dewby

Certainly did not want to imply that. I will root for Dak as much as I did/will for Romo. It just kind of bothered me to see so many people seem to be happy that Tony was down. I'll get over it.

I figured as much, I was just being stupidstitious

My point is that I don't want to see Romo - or any player - hanging around to collect a paycheck when their health no longer allows them to hold up their end of the contract. Completely hypothetical at this point.

I guess my point is, if the cowboys don't cut him, it means they believe he's worth $20 million as a back up (which won't happen), the cowboys hold all the cards and are good enough cap wise to keep him if they want, just a 0% chance it's for him to be a non starter.

So I'm not sure what scenario it would be for Romo to be just hanging around for a pay check.

The scenario where this team continues to think he can hold up as a starter. And he goes along.

That situation just got interesting. Ro mo on IR and plans continue?
I don't think they can waste a spot on Romo for 4-6 weeks on a dream he comes back early.....I think they have to IR him....that just keeps Showers on the 53 imo......they still have to add a vet QB and that means cuts somewhere else

the Dead Money was money well spent over the years and is great cap management.....spreading out the larger cap hits and paying more when the cap is higher is smart...all top QBs get paid and all have to be eventually accounted for on the cap

fair enough, how about this edit:

sickening dead money hit if he's done, literally adds insult to injury.

Ask yourself that question.

If a player comes off the PUP..he can't go back on it...that's what that states....

He either stays on it...into the regular season...misses the first 6 weeks...then has a 5 week exemption to get into game shape. Or revert to the IR.

This rule has been put into place from keeping teams from stashing players w/ fake injuries.

I just don't look at it that way......if they had been taking 20m+ cap hits on Romo the last 4 years that would have been a bigger waste of resources......think of it as an interest free credit card...you can take a 5k vacation and pay for at the time or spread it out over 3 years with no interest....smart people would tell you to spread it out.......in 3 years you will still be paying for a vacation you took a long time ago but it was still a smart move and gave you flexibility you didn't have before...
