Yeah. 2014, good times. But, it is 2016 now.

They're stuck with the contract for 2016 anyway. But that doesn't mean they're stuck with Romo's lack of health holding the team hostage any longer.

Maybe I'm crazy but I don't bench a guy who is one year removed from leading the entire league in QBR and was in the discussion as an MVP because he took a fluke shot in a preseason game.

Maybe if it happens again when he comes back we discuss it. But this idea that he is going to get hurt the moment he walks on the field again is really, really stupid. Hell even Sean Lee has played 25 games the last two seasons.

Sean Lee doesn't have a bounty on his back.

he's injured different areas of his back...they have little relation to one another.

I never said they did.

You are correct. He has had 3 distinct, unrelated injuries, all of which have resulting in Romo missing games.

The fact that they are unrelated, at this point, is maybe a not entirely positive.

Well with our o-line, all our offensive weapons, and the promise shown by Dak, it is time for Garrett to put up or shut up. This should be THE defining season for him.

Romo's injuries are most likely related to the fact that he gets less roughing the passer penalties than any top five QB in the league. This fact has a psychological impact on opponents just as much as the QB. If the opponents are going to get flagged more often when they hit Brady or Rogers they are going to be more wary of laying the wood. With Tony Romo that doesn't happen and this adds up over time. I blame the NFL and it's blatantly biased reffing for Tony's injury history just as much as flukes more so than the so-called "fragility" of Romo. This blatant one-sidedness needs to be called out for what it is by the organization or nothing is going to change.

No, what's "really, really stupid", is continuing to blind yourself to the facts of what is actually happening vs what someone wishes would happen.

i'll grant you that, but its not like one LED to the other being more probable. that was my point.

So what? He had a bad back in 2014 too. How'd that work out?
I already responded to that in another thread. Two years older not to mention being out last year and now another injury. By the time Romo comes back it will be almost a year since he played a meaningful football game. Are we supposed to just sit around year after year and waste some of our other players careers while we wait to see if Romo is fit to play? Romo is not getting younger.

He's had 4 different back injuries/ issues since the last week of 2013.

3 of them knocked him out of games. 1 of them was that slightly mysterious surgery to remove a cyst in 2014.

2 of those back injuries were for broken bones in his back.

Beyond that he broke and then rebroke his collarbone last season.

The most discouraging aspect of all this is how little Romo has actually been hit. He enjoys fantastic protection from the best offensive line in the NFL.
He certainly is bizarrely unlucky. I wouldn't even say he's injury prone, he's accident prone. Someone who is injury prone usually misses games here and there, and has certain maladies that show up again over and over... someone who is always nursing a hamstring or who always turns their ankles. Romo gets into situations that would probably hurt any other quarterback just as much, and all his injuries are generally unrelated.
While I don't necessarily believe it myself, it's hard to disagree with the people calling him fragile. At this point is there a difference between fragile and Romo's brand of unlucky? I fully expect Frederick to step on his hand when he returns.

What is actually happening? He broke a collarbone last year and was rushed back on the field too early by a panicking, losing coaching staff and owner so it was broken again. He should never have even been on the field against Carolina.

Then he took, like I said, a fluke shot to the back. I've never seen a QB get bent like that on a slide, have you?

You act like no football player in the history of ever has even been injured in back to back games, when the reality is we are talking about something that happens all of the time. The last time before these two injuries Romo missed significant time is 2010, and yet here you are perfectly willing to toss aside an elite level QB because there is a shiny new toy on the bench.

Seriously, who is wishing for something to happen here?
