Just now started looking at this thread, and sure as heck not going to read a war and peace novel type thread.
So without knowing what has been discussed.....

Remember not so long ago, a certain 1st overall pick in RG3 took the NFL by storm....well, Dak looks to be more of a complete QB that's RG3 did. So there is hope he can perform at a decent level, yes with mistakes, but still play decent.

Also Russell,Wilson was name the starter in Seattle that same year. Seems he faired pretty well.
Yes he had the best defense to help. But we have better skill players and a better OL.

There can be some success here with this combination

Also maybe this lights a fire under the butts of the D and let them help the O for once after years of Tony helping the D. The D must step up now and do their part. Spare me the...they can't crap...because they can do it.

Y'all killing me. You really want this man to be carried out in a stretcher.. Let him go. I'm going to start a Romo is gone Rehab Facility for all y'all in denial.

I'm not in denial about Romo. I'm just thinking this is what the Cowboys might do. I'm fine with Dak going forward and Romo retiring for example...not a problem for me at all.

If/when he comes back, he'll get hurt again. Jerruh has too much money dumped into the Romo wagon, so I fully expect Romo to return and then get hurt again.....

A physicist and psychologist! Thanks for taking the time out of what must be a very busy schedule to educate us.

The defender had no control over wrapping him up and driving him into the ground? That's all on physics? Lol

Maybe you should take your own advice.

The defender was in the middle of a tackle. Saying he drove him into the ground and all this other nonsense is just ridiculous. He tackled him. Period.

They do more than that...no one sells more jersey, hot dogs, popcorn, beer, bras, panties, party passes, cage dancers, Final Four tickets, BCS tickets, NBA All Star game tickets.....oh...and play .500 football for the past 20+ years!

Well, I've waded through 31 pages of mostly negative dung, and finally found an athlete's point of view.

And let me dispense some of your worst fears --
Tony could play next week if he had to.

A subtle compression fracture that requires an MRI for diagnosis is really minor. Yes, it's broken, but it's not displaced and there's absolutely no structural instability. There's no disc herniation, nerve compression, or limitation of motion. I've managed hundreds of these, and they are uncomplicated. Only severe compression that might be seen with osteoporosis requires intervention.

My guess is that Tony will miss 3 games at most.

You can all him unlucky, but his injuries include a pilonidal cyst (minor lumbo-sacral condition),
partial lumbar nerve compression (micro-surg.),
lumbar transverse process fracture (minor),
the well-chronicled clavicle injuries (healed),
and now the L1 minimal compression.
His legs and throwing arm are completely spared, and none of the afore-mentioned issues is likely to result in anything more than the obligatory football arthritis. Things could be much worse.

He also has not had the worrisome concussion history that plagued previous Cowboy QBs.

Can y'all just get your popcorn ready and relax?

Or have you already wagered too much on this season?

Either way, there are millions of undernourished people in the world, and if you help one you'll feel really good.

Let's hope you are right.

We all waded through literally 1000 posts last season argueing the nature, severity, and length of both Romo's and Dez's injuries.

We had competing views from Doctors, Surgeons, Specialists, and armchair clinicians. Comparisons to similar injuries (Julio Jones for Dez and Aaron Rodgers for Romo) were constantly referenced.

Many heated arguements here on CZ ensued.

In those two cases, generally speaking, the top end of injury range ended up being the case and with both Dez and Romo, it turns out both players weren't fully healed.

Let's hope that's not the case this time around.

the dead money is still a lot smaller than the already projected cap hits if he stays.....that is why they are savings

If Romo plays next year his cap hit is 24.7m
If he is cut or retires it 10.7m
and is 8.9m in 2018 instead of 25.2m

those are massive savings.......19.6m vs 49.9m

whats the effect if they managed to trade him in say March of 2017?

My point is that I don't want to see Romo - or any player - hanging around to collect a paycheck when their health no longer allows them to hold up their end of the contract. Completely hypothetical at this point.
It's not even hypothetical at this point.

Romo's last full season was close to MVP level (and we're only talking one season ago, not like 5). To bench him after 6-8 games this season Dak would have to look like Aaron Rodgers. Literally. Considering how unlikely that is, the sole reason to bench Romo for Dak would be because you doubt his durability.

And why would anyone pay a guy $20M to be a backup QB if you doubt his durability? It makes no sense for the team to do that, much less Romo having the option to.

Again, unless Dak comes out and actually has a *better* rookie season than RG3, I would pencil in Romo as the starter or look for him as a June 1 cut next year.

Yeah. 2014, good times. But, it is 2016 now.

They're stuck with the contract for 2016 anyway. But that doesn't mean they're stuck with Romo's lack of health holding the team hostage any longer.

Neither RG3 nor Russell Wilson were saddled with Garrett

Hes not that fragile...sheesh. freak accidents happen.

He's had 4 different back injuries/ issues since the last week of 2013.

3 of them knocked him out of games. 1 of them was that slightly mysterious surgery to remove a cyst in 2014.

2 of those back injuries were for broken bones in his back.

Beyond that he broke and then rebroke his collarbone last season.

The most discouraging aspect of all this is how little Romo has actually been hit. He enjoys fantastic protection from the best offensive line in the NFL.
