I think people manufacture problems and dont suggest what should be changed. Im not sure garrett cares who is getting yards when the rookie qb is successfully moving the offense down the field. I dont imaging he plays fantasy football so he has no need to dusrupt the rookie to force the ball to dez.

Basically. People just whine for no reason.

Manufacture problems. LOL.

I'm a die-hard cowboys fan, and admittedly don't watch all that many other games. However, I do see alot of highlights where it seems all the other teams get wide receivers more open. By that I mean it seems our receivers are always covered fairly well and you rarely if ever see them catch a pass with a couple of steps on the dbs. It seems like it's been this way for years. I'm not sure if it's play-calling, lack of speed and separation ability, or something else, but do you guys notice the same thing - our guys never seem to get as wide open as other receivers?

The problem is that we're doing exactly what defenses want us to do: throw the ball to Beasley and Witten. Some people seem to think that's fine, that taking what the defense gives you is a great way to play offense. I could not disagree more. Winners and losers in today's NFL are determined in large part by turnovers and explosive plays. Dez is our explosive playmaker and he needs to be used for more than just a decoy. That means designing plays to get the ball in his hands--slants, crossing routes and other high-percentage patterns where he can catch the ball on the move--some of those rub routes that get guys wide open against us every game.

Who will be our next coach? Even Jerry cannot keep putting 8-8 as an acceptable number.

How many of you guys were fortunate enough to watch Michael Irvin play? When teams knew we were going to him, they couldn't stop him. I agree that the coaches do not put Dez in favorable situations to succeed, but Dez does nothing to help himself either. Give me a Michael Irvin over this crybaby Dez any day.....

It does not matter who the coach is as long as this FO remains intact. And we have Jerry Junior waiting in the wings......YIIIIIPEEEE

As long as JG is HC there will not be a change in his outdated offensive philosophy. Just forget about, rub routes, motions or properly coached screen plays, the playbook will remain the same. JG is set in his ways and coaches older than he looks and not in a good way.

I agree. I was thinking the about this the other day. Beasley is going to be a key part of our offense. He will get more catches then Kelvin Martin because teams are passing more these days, but I think you need to be careful how much you use him. Beasley has carved out an excellent niche as a safety valve for a QB and is very good at moving the chains 6 to 12 yards out. Although at least so far, he is not a threat down the field. While converting on third downs is a great skill to have, I just think you need to be careful overusing him. As you mention Witten is also very good at this but he too is not a down field threat.

I also have to assume Beasley is also a negative on run blocking. I hope Beasley has an excellent season and I expect he will get a lot of snaps. I just hope we don't fall into that trap of thinking he is more important than he is.

Like the slant that Irvin is famous for? We don't run those for Dez; go routes, deep outs, and comeback routes. JG is clueless. Dez did just fine with a running game and accurate QB in spite of the poor route tree; similar to Irvin. That was also in the 90s w/dated defenses. You have to be a little more clever on O in today's league. Even with Murray, we weren't SB bound because we didn't involve our most explosive player in GB until it was too late; Dez. We barely beat DET in the wildcard round for this reason as well.

I read a guy on twitter say in the preseason that he thought the back shoulder throw was Dak's best throw in college. He threw it to Dez and Butler a couple of times in preseason. I am surprised we did not try this on Sunday with Dez.

Move him around. Get him in motion. Rub routes. Slants. Put in the slot.

Study any other team in the league.

You are asking the coaches to be imaginative. Won't happen.

I do agree that we need to reevaluate our DL rotation. Should we be starting Thorton and McClain in the middle? Gives us more beef upfront and McClain has shown that he can be active as 3 technique.

finding solutions is the job of the head coach, not forum posters
I can understand why DAK was instructed to throw so much underneath..

Its his first start and they wanted to keep the pressure off him.

Dez ended up as a decoy.

That will change.

If Dez didn't drop that TD or Beasley doesn't drop his..

We win by 13..

and nobody expected Zeke to struggle..

So i think we will see better this week against the Commanders.

we're gonna take what the defense gives us. Forget that crap about being the aggressor, that bunk is for winners damn it!

This is the part that truly sickens me. We let the opponents dictate on both sides of the ball. No wonder this staff needs superstars at every position to be successful.

It has always been one of JG's biggest faults. He actually thinks it is all about his schemes, when in fact it is his job to adjust his scheme to put his stars in a position to succeed.

Dez is awesome after the catch, yet this offense does nothing to get the ball in his hands on crossing routes etc. But hey Beasley and Witten got 26 targets and a cloud of dust. This offense needs to make BIG plays to help the young guy out. Beasley and Witten are not going to make that happen.
