David Carr thinks Romo should wait until he's 100%

I stayed out of the last few Romo threads because i don't think it matters how things play out. I dont think Romo can stay healthy if on the field. I expect Jerry will push for Romo to get out there only for Romo to get another injury very quickly.

He can be ready to play but not fully healed just like last year. All it took was one regular football play to take Romo out again.

If youre Romo you wait until you are 100% and not just go out there in pain and be compromised. If he does, he'll probably not have a good showing on the field and he will slowly lose the team.

Romo has gone 4 1/2 weeks since his injury, Carr broke two vertebrae and was out there in 3 weeks.

It will be interesting to see the opinions of fans and the media should the Cowboys go 1-3 or 0-4 over the next 4 games.

Then again, it will be just as interesting to see those opinions if Dak throws two or more interceptions in a game that we lose. :D

If Prescott can win games then they'll be more conservative in handling Romo. If he can't, they'll get Romo on the field as soon as possible.

I don't mind it. I liken it to a concert. Prescott's the opener that nobody really came to see. The joint's not even half filled yet. Romo's coming on later to a packed crowd and I'll be sitting on the shoulders of one of our members with my shirt off.

In the past, Jerry has had a tendency to rush players back before they're 100% prepared to play their best. It's also certainly in the player's and the team's best interest to stay healthy for the rest of the season in which they were hurt. I'm sincerely hoping that what happens in 2016 is in the best interest of Romo's health throughout the remainder of his career and life after football as well. Much is at stake. It's certainly not simply a matter of wins nor money that makes it so.

Good read indeed. I don't think it matters if he's fully healed or less than 100% healthy when he returns. Chances are he'll get hurt again with something else. This is what happens to older players. Their bodies can't take the punishment these young kids like Prescott can. So IMHO it doesn't matter how healthy he is when he comes back, he'll be back in the trainer's room in a few weeks. He might only be 36 but he's hurt his back on numerous occasions and like the article reads, had he won a SB already, he would've called it quits last year if not this preseason.

No offense, but this is equally a piece trying to retroactively justify Carr's own poor play as it is a warning to Romo.

Or he can be fully healed and not ready to play.......he is no different than any other player needing to get into football shape. As he rarely has any action in preseason or TC.

Most of us (that want Romo to return) have been screaming for him to not return until he's 100% since he was injured in that preseason game. There's no way he should be rushed back, regardless of the team's win/loss ratio. Jerry won't listen.

I can see Jerry rushing him back and then Romo getting hurt again then him getting cut next year for cap room - him going to Denver an winning a SB

But QBs don't really have to be in fb shape like other positions, and Romo went through the entire offseason and is throwing and working to stay in shape now and will be practicing before he returns. It shouldn't take much. It'll be basically like a qb in week 1.
