Jerry says its not an issue with him doing further damage to his knee....hmm..

As far as Bryant’s ability to play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, Jones said he doesn’t know how to read it. Bryant has not practiced all week. But he is doing rehab work with the team’s athletic trainers. The team refuses to rule him out.

Jones said it’s not an issue of him doing further damage to the injury, but more of an issue of ability to play and function with pain.

“I don't know. I think, again, it has to do with how sensitive,” Jones said. “I know that he's not only right now in terms of cutting and doing the things that you'll have to do to play.”

"I think it's the ability -- and it's not tolerance -- it's the ability to actually perform with pain. And that's different than tolerance. But your mind will absolutely react to a certain amount of pain no matter how tough you are."

I don't know what the heck Jerry is doing.

Does he believe the things he is mumbling to the press? Everybody knows Dez is out for some number of games (likely 3-4).

Saddle both him and Zeke up and ride them into the ground. Get your money out of them, Jerry.

I'm always amazed how brave Jerry is about playing his injured players when it's not his arse that's on the line. He's really consistent about that. What guts! Nevertheless, I'm glad to hear that the team won't be putting Dez at risk -- for this week, anyhow. Even if he's trying to fake out the other teams, nobody falls for it, regardless. Nice to know the doctors think it's best to err on the side of caution. Kudos -- good idea.
Thanks for that, at least.

There is a fracture on a weight-bearing part of a leg bone. NO!

Shut up, Jerry.

Wasn't the same thing said about his foot last season? I guess this means they'll have him play on it and continue using him as a decoy.

Shut up, Jerry.

There may be some truth to what Jerry said about further damage not being the issue.
Depending on the spot and direction and size of the "slight hairline fracture" it may be possible that the amount of pressure needed to cause further breakage or damage is beyond the amount that could get put on the bone. The team may be playing it safe and feeling like the wet field in SF combined with the quality of the SF defense makes it a better move to rest him for the week. I guess we will see next week.
(I say all of this with no medical background whatsoever, and I didn't even stay at a holiday inn last night).
