What If, Philly 5-1 at Dallas 4-2 For First Place Oct 30th

I got a feeling Romo walks into a lose lose situation when he gets back. Not a bad problem to have but in all honesty we need that Philly game. It is a huge game.

I dont.

If you look at Jason garrett's offenses vs Jim Schwartz's Teams/Defense They scored 35, 34 and 30 points. Romo's int in 11 ruined what was a blowout.

also, Romo has thrown 6 TD's, almost 600 Yards vs Schwartz's defense and of course the back breaking 3 int's in 2011.

Dallas will know how to attack that defense and they know the personnel of the eagles well. Dallas ability to run the ball neutralizes everything most teams bring to the table, Romo opening up the playbook also pressures teams more.

I just heard Moose on the fan saying its Romo's team and the playbook is much different with him.

So to me, Its Romo without question especially since he will most likely get smith and bryant back with him and this offenses success vs Schwartz.

I am more worried about Romo's escapability than doing the dink-and-dunk offense. I have 100% confidence that he can run the offense much better than Dak, even in his first game back. It is facing that front-7 for his return that is concerning. Dak can leave the pocket and scramble effectively, Romo can not.

I still say let Romo begin against the Browns unless Dak struggles against better teams. Cleveland would be an ideal tune-up game, not a division foe who most likely will be leading the division.

This all hinges on the fact that Dak is continually progressing each week..............

I play Romo against Philly... There is a score to settle there. I think Romo will come back with a vengeance. We need a W against Philly and Romo has the smarts and savvy to get the job done.

Just remember-- Tony was having his best training camp by many accounts this offseason before getting hurt. The last time he was healthy and had a beastly running game-- he was in the MVP conversation.

If we are taking on Philly for 1st place-- Tony is the guy I want behind center. Dak will get his chance.

Depends on Tyrone Smith, but no matter what Philly is a tough front seven to come back to. I don't quite agree that it's a no-win situation for Tony though. If things turn out as described in the original post, a Cowboys win would be a big win for Romo in his first game back.

a win by Romo is NEVER a big win because by definition he only ever loses big games, so if he wins, it is just a meaningless game

their secondary still has holes but their dline is insane

is it? I think its really good, insane is stretching it.

The interior guys are excellent but carlos dunlap and the nickel rusher will clarke are good but I don't know if they are impossible matches.

If smith doesnt play and I don't think he will it could be a long day. Green and Free could struggle but I don't think these edge guys are better than New York's and none are as good as kerrigan in Washington.

If I was Vegas that's how I'd set the line.

Another good post. Romo offers the big plays that we're probably going to need to win that PHI game, if we can.

I'm not generally worried about Romo's injury situation, but I will say, I don't like the idea of him coming back against that Eagles team out of the gates. Not based on anything but the way it seems with those guys all the time, but it just seems like they'd be the team to knock him out again his first game back if it were going to happen. Just like they knocked Romo out early last season, and just like they got Irvin years ago. Just like I think they might get Bradford here when they play the Vikes. The Football Gods don't like the Eagles franchise, but they do allow them some poetic justice every now and then.

A part of me would rather not tempt them and would just let Romo have at the Browns, who we can all agree the Football Gods have completely abandoned, long ago.

Plagiarizer! See post #22 :D

This sounds pretty accurate...

Philly beat Pitt by 31 in Philly...

Steelers are basically 10 points better than Dallas...so that would make Philly 41 point favorites over Dallas in Philly...but the game is in Dallas..so you lose 6 points..3 for leaving Philly...3 more for going to Dallas..

Thus, Eagles favored by 35 vs Dallas in Dallas

I'll take the Eagles to cover that

Rusty, maybe not. He is a professional I don't think he forgot how to throw a ball. How many reps does he really need?
It's all about timing with the rest of the offense. It would be an adjustment, more for the rest of the offense, not Romo esp. if Dez is just coming back as well. Throwing that into a very good Eagle defense would be tough. Practice is one thing but real game speed, is certainly another. Dang Philthi will throw in a few late hits just for measure. Don't like Romo coming back in that scenario

For anybody paying attention, I PMd dexter and told him what to write for that post #22, and then wrote my own just to see which of us wore it better.

I think his makes his butt look big, what do you guys think?

You have to go with Prescott as long as he keeps up his current level of play. If that starts to drop off (very possible), you could do a lot worse than Romo as a second option.

I like this Darth Vader persona you have employed lately.

Now let's hear it.

Reality, I am your father.

Sounds a lot like the same tune he always plays to me, only this time with harmonica.

If that scenario plays out, I predict Red channels his inner Landry and alternates Dak and Tony play by play.

I heard a discussion on the radio and thought it would be an interesting topic for this site.

So Philly's only loss is to the Vikes to be 5-1. Dallas beats Cincinnati and loses to Green Bay to be 4-2.

Dallas has a bye week before the Eagles game. Romo is coming off a week's practice to play his first game.

Romo hasn't played much in the last year as he has suffered several injuries.

Dak looked sharp against Green bay, but the defense lost the game.

Do you break up the momentum and start Romo in his come back game.

Or is this Wentz vs. Dak for first place.

And why would you make the decision you do?

++++++

If it comes down just like this, I start Dak and save Romo for the Browns the next week.

The game plan is to bust the eagles hole with the run game, controlling the clock and letting Zeke establish a beat down on the defense where the second half they will be worn out.

Then let Dak loose.

But I could, be wrong.

One question… Is Romo 100%? If he's not, I give it one more week and play him against Cleveland. If he is healthy, there's no further question to ask – start Romo.
