I think people have a misrepresentation of Romo in their mind. He is going to be rusty as hell. Remember his first game against SF in 2014? Remember his game against Carolina last year? He hasn't had a ton of significant snaps since 2014. It might take him 2 games just to get back to being Romo again.
Neither of those games apply. The only game in his career where he came back in-season after this long of a layoff was Miami last year.

3-1 last year with Romo, only losing to the eventual NFC representatives in the Super Bowl - 1-11 without him.

Really, you are pointing to 1 game in 2014 for reference - that is idiotic!

Tony, no question.

You think Zeke has been good now, wait till we have a QB defenses have to fear.

I'm still wanting Romo to start but I'll be the first to admit that Dak has absolutely made that a tough decision rather than an no brainer, like I expected it to be.

Romo only if he starts against Cleveland, not the Eagles.
Love Romo and if he's given the opportunity to start, I truly think he wont make it through the season either way. Just too brittle. :(

Romo is the better qb as long as there is no pressure. As pressure mounts Romo retreats. Pressure does not seem to bother Dak. Let Dak continue to get the experience. Player are also getting to feel comfortable with him. Let him get 16 games under his belt going into playoffs instead of 6 while Rome comes in for 6, gets injured again, and we shuffle back to Dak. Dont get into a Morton/Staubach shuffle.
I vote Dak even tho I know Jerry will override it

I agree but then what a great problem to have. Wish we could say the same thing about starting DE. lol

I see a lot of gnashing of teeth but how I see it is we have 2 very good QB would have been nice to have just 1 last season.

Romo went down vs Philly, early in the 3rd. Brandon Weeden threw the only touchdown the offense scored that day. Romo wasn't exactly stellar against the Dolphins, either.

Nice problem to have. Either Romo or Dak is the greatest Backup QB in the NFL.

Dak just came back from 14 down, if he wins vs Cinnci you'll have to stick with the hot hand.

I would like to add that this poll is not about tracking who is right or wrong later. It's about tracking the trend of which quarterback is preferred as games are played.

Our votes have no weight on what happens, so this is just a fun poll to gauge where fans are at the moment with regards to who starts with Romo is healthy. It will be perfectly fine to change your mind in future versions of the poll as well.

Sit them both. Let them learn from the great Sanchez.

It would be good to get the chance to evaluate Sanchez in live action - hopefully in the 4th quarter of games where we're a few scores ahead. Sanchez has played at various levels throughout his career. We need to know if we have the Jekyll or Hyde Sanchez. I don't want to find out which in a crucial game if our starting QB goes down.

Why? If it's not there, why force it just for the sake of throwing the deep ball?

The team has stuck with what they do best - ground and pound, move the chains football. Dak isn't recklessly slinging it around the field, he's going through his progressions and finding the open receiver. I have no doubt that Dak can make the deep throws when the time warrants them, but he's playing good football now and he's not turning the ball over.

Because it's not going to hold up. Anyone who thinks a QB can go an entire season throwing 1 20 yard pass every few games doesn't understand the NFL. You have to go deep, NFL teams WILL adjust and they will take away those short to medium throws.

You have to keep defenses honest. If Dak wants to be a starter, start throwing balls like an NFL QB. He's also had a ton of help from our WRs who have been getting completely open on those short routes, he hasn't had to make a challenging throw as of yet.

Not sure that it should even be a debate. Romo starts when he is healthy and has practiced some. Whether that's after the bye week or the week after that. Dak has gained some valuable experience and will get a bit of a trial by fire here these next couple of weeks. Romo has given his all for this team and deserves his starting job back, if he holds up - great, Dak then gets even more experience by sitting and learning even more. If Romo gets injured again (Heaven forbid) we now have confidence in Dak to come in and play well.
I thought Dak would be a quality backup, but nothing more, after a year or two to sit and learn. I'm happy to say it looks like I was wrong - but, he will be that much better for it if he can sit behind Romo for awhile, learn to read defenses better etc. Think Romo's salary next year is cost prohibitive to moving him or retiring - cap hit. So Dak has plenty of time, but it does look like we have lucked into Romo's eventual replacement.

It all depends on how the team is doing. If we beat the Bengals and the Packers, I'd stick with Dak. If he starts to struggle I'd go back to Romo. One thing I do know is that if Romo comes back and gets hurt again we have to move on. We can't waste other players careers trying to wait for Tony to become healthy again.

My position is if Dak continues to play well and improve and we continue to win you stick with him. If he begins to struggle and we start dropping games, you go back to Romo when he's healthy.
Do you define struggling as throwing 1 TD a game?

I define "struggling" as him starting to look like a rookie by committing turnovers and being inconsistent. The TD passes are starting to come, he's had 3 the past two weeks and was 2 feet away from having 5 TD passes this season. He's produced 5 TD's rushing and passing.

does Romo dress for the Green Bay game and if things get out of hand quick take over for Dak?
