ESPN's MVP Poll is an absolute joke

Did I say anything about Dak?
Um, you said Carr has an argument, which necessarily means there's an argument for Carr over Dak (and the rest of the candidates).

This isn't much of a poll. It's from a panel of 12.

The current poll on NFL.com has Dak currently winning in by a large margin.

Who would get your MVP vote today?
  • 22%Tom Brady
  • 38%Dak Prescott
  • 7%Matt Ryan
  • 24%Ezekiel Elliott
  • 8%Russell Wilson

I think a bunch of them have a legit argument.
Not really hear to cry or argue about it, Nav

But if you need one comment: I don't think Oakland is 9-2 if Dak is their QB.

I love Zeke but his MVP candidacy is a farce.

The whole world knows that this is now a QB award. The only way a RB will win this award nowadays is if he breaks a major record and/or goes over 2,000 yards.

But let's make Zeke an "MVP candidate" in order to justify not voting for Dak. Just like Murray was an "MVP candidate" in 2014 so that Romo could get the shaft.

Zeke leads the league in rushing. Julio Jones leads the league in receiving. So why isn't Julio an "MVP candidate" so we can screw over Matt Ryan?

Carr has far worse numbers and a worse record than Dak. So why on Earth does he deserve it over Dak?

Far worse numbers?
66.4% Completion, 22TDs, 5 INTs. 3,115 yards passing.

67.9% Completion, 18P+5R TDs, 2 INTs. 2,835 yards passing

They are virtually the same, with Carr having 3 more picks.

Quarterback play has a lot to do with the record, as we saw last year, however, it isn't the end all for how well a team does.
Carr's team is 8-2, Dak's team is 9-1. Dude, that's a game difference.

It helps Carr, media wise, that he has been in the league longer and has improved each year for a team that has been bad for so long. (Not that I'm including that in why I'm ok with him winning it).

I said I would be fine with Carr winning it. It's not a knock on Dak, unless you make it a knock on him. He has done a very good job in a tough division, and like Dak, has had a big part in their winning ways.

If Dak keeps it up, no reason not believe he will, then he definitely has a strong argument to be the MVP.

Dak will lose some steam because of how well Zeke is playing. Just like in 14 with Romo losing steam to how well Murray played that year(and record breaking team numbers) IMO.
Doesn't mean I don't think Dak shouldn't be in the conversation, or getting consideration.

What puts Carr ahead for me is that he is doing a very good job without a legit top 5 running back. L. Murray has 471 yards, and a 3.9 avg. They also have a couple other backs with 300 yards each, one has a 75 yard run boosting his numbers higher.

Receiver wise, the teams are about equal IMO, with Dez being close to Cooper overall, and Beasley making up for the Crabtree vs Williams matchup.
Not to mention reliable Witten > Clive Walford or whoever they have at TE.

As for the running backs being added to the MVP award, it's because said running backs were/are having great years, compared to their peers.
Murray broke the Cowboys rushing record that year, led the league in TDs(tied) and had just under 500 yards rushing over the next dude, while posting a 4.71 YPC. Doesn't matter he was run into the ground. He was given a large workload and delivered.

As for Zeke being mentioned, It's clear why he is brought up. He's a dynamic running back that can set the tone/end a game with his freak abilities. When he has games like the one versus the Steelers, on a national stage, he will command MVP talk, and rightfully so. And when the media talks up the "vaunted" #1 run defense in Green Bay, and Zeke has a field day... Its not to knock the Cowboys QB out of the MVP talk.

While Zeke won't hit 2k this year, if he can get close to Dickersons record, and keep scoring TDs then he should be considered.

I have it as
Carr
Dak
Ryan
Zeke

Not really interested in individual awards. I'm more interested in team success.

And you don't care to express why you believe that? Interesting. The other Carr backers also go mute when asked for an intelligent reason.

Dak has clearly outperformed Carr. The numbers and W/L record are in Dak's favor. So the only argument for Carr must be laden with excuses for him having a MUCH weaker supporting cast than Dak... which he doesn't.

Both teams have mediocre defenses and strong offenses. Both teams have terrific offensive lines. Dak even lost Dez for 3 games and didn't miss a beat.

Damnit, got the records wrong by a week. lol Too late to edit.

Have the stones to say it. Derek Carr is a better QB and human being than Dak Prescott.

I have it as

Ryan
Zeke
Carr: 100.5 passer rating, 66.7 QBR

Dak: 108.6 passer rating, 86.0 QBR

No comparison.

i just hope in the month of febuary that dak and zeke and the rest of the boys are the ones holding the hardware

I have no problem if they think Carr or Ryan is in the hunt for MVP this year.

Carr has helped turn the Raiders...the RAIDERS around...I think this is the first winning season for them in a loooong time. Of course they have other good players on that team as well but I won't bash Carr being in the argument.

Won't bash Ryan for being in the argument either. He is putting up some pretty good numbers this year.
