One can make the same argument about Carr that they say about Dak. Carr has playmaker Wr in Cooper and one of the best OL in football also.Derek Carr is the MVP. Period.

This isn't much of a poll. It's from a panel of 12.
The current poll on NFL.com has Dak currently winning in by a large margin.
Who would get your MVP vote today?
- 22%Tom Brady
- 38%Dak Prescott
- 7%Matt Ryan
- 24%Ezekiel Elliott
- 8%Russell Wilson
This thread is a joke.
And Dak has helped turned the Cowboys...the COWBOYS around.I have no problem if they think Carr or Ryan is in the hunt for MVP this year.
Carr has helped turn the Raiders...the RAIDERS around...I think this is the first winning season for them in a loooong time. Of course they have other good players on that team as well but I won't bash Carr being in the argument.
Won't bash Ryan for being in the argument either. He is putting up some pretty good numbers this year.
And take has turned the Cowboys...the COWBOYS around.
Risen let me stealth edit please. Seriously, though, not sure how Dak auto corrected to that.Rayne "Take" Prescott. I like it.
They still have to play @KC, @SD, and @DEN....they're not getting through that unscathed.Derek Carr really does have an argument
Then go elsewhere!! Who's forcing you to read it? Perhaps offering something would make it better.
The Cowboys' line is better. The Cowboys' rushing game is much better. Carr has thrown for 10% more yardage with a similar completion percentage and a bit lower passer rating. As far as team records, they lost to the Falcons and Chiefs and beat the Broncos. We haven't, in my opinion, played anyone that good (the Giants and Commanders aren't).And you don't care to express why you believe that? Interesting. The other Carr backers also go mute when asked for an intelligent reason.
Dak has clearly outperformed Carr. The numbers and W/L record are in Dak's favor. So the only argument for Carr must be laden with excuses for him having a MUCH weaker supporting cast than Dak... which he doesn't.
Both teams have mediocre defenses and strong offenses. Both teams have terrific offensive lines. Dak even lost Dez for 3 games and didn't miss a beat.
I think the problem is people overinterpreting the name. It's not "most valuable player to his team," although for some reason people insist on tacking those three words on the end. It's "the NFL's most valuable player." As in, if you were starting the league from scratch and playing a single season, who would your first pick be. Or who would you pay the most to get for this year. Or, basically, who's the best player. The problem with this award is the name. It's not best player. It's most valuable player. Which brings into it team depth, IMO.
Let's say Prescott goes down in the 1st quarter tomorrow. Do you think it cripples the team if Romo trots out there?
Now do the same with the Raiders and Matt McGloin or Connor Cook.

Yeah, most people don't agree with it. But the end result of that thinking is that the MVP award says more about a players' teammates than it does about the player, which to me is absurd.I don't agree with that. If Carr is more valuable to his team than Prescott is to his, meaning the end result if either can't get on the field, then one is more valuable than the other.
They have player of the year awards for best player.

The Minnesota media guy thread sheds some light on this regarding Dallas.

It's not at all unreasonable to pick Carr over Dak for MVP. Personally, I think the MVP is pretty clearly our OL, so I don't care very much about this stuff.
Sounds an awful lot like the excuses given for shafting Romo in 2014.The starting comment was
"When you look at this Dallas offense...Dak Prescott at quarterback and Zeke Elliott at running back...it's Elliott that makes this offense go"
