The guy is pure class, but he's human.

True. That's when you find out about yourself.
My son is trying to get a scholarship with a big-time program to play football. We see guys who we know getting scholarships, and they're not as nearly as good as my son (though they've got a few pounds on them and that's what recruiters look at). And while I express support and congratulate them for their offers, I'm not going to lie and deny that I feel a slight tinge of jealousy. But I have to fight it because it's not their fault. And so I suppress my baser nature and console myself in the fact that God has a greater plan for my son's/our lives and that His timing is perfect.
You have to have a morality/ethic that believes in a GREATER CAUSE; otherwise, you will carry resent with you for the rest of your life or until you get a chance to redeem yourself - and you may not get that chance.

Anyway, my two cents.

I remember when I was like the worst person in the world for suggesting he was a complete moron and the Cowboys were wasting their time with him.

Here's an example. Guys like you hate me because I tell it like it is, while guys like you sugar coat everything and hide behind the populist of the board. You don't really hate me because you don't really know me, but you "message board" hate me. So Quincy "football" hates anyone who was responsible for replacing him which was ultimately Tony Romo. Now, Tony "football" hates Dak because Dak came in as a 4th rounder and replaced him with impeccable play.

This isn't "telling it like is." The psychological term is projection. You're projecting your feelings and ways of looking at the world on everyone else.

Who? Give me names.
Fans who overly critique his game. Fans who constantly down play his play by suggesting Zeke is the reason for the success and not Dak. Fans who constantly call for deep balls. Fans who say he's not the best QB on the team, they all know who they are. The fact is, Dak Prescott has brought us to where we are right now. It's not a coincidence that he took a sorry Mississippi State team to #1 in the country and now the Dallas Cowboys to top of their conference in his rookie season.

People that downplay what he's doing are people who just don't like him. And there's no other reason to dislike him other than they want Romo in there.

You can come at me anyway you want, but I'm telling you that when he gave his speech, he sounded and looked dejected. Is it because he had a bad sandwich or his wife slapped him that day? I'm not sure, but I'd suggest otherwise. The guy just lost his freaking job for goodness sake. Is he supposed to go out and pick flowers or sing happy birthday because he lost his job? He didn't even have a competition for the job, he just lost it due to injury and the other guy just playing lights out.

Of course he was dejected! Duh! It was the equivalent to a concession speech. How you jump from that to "hatred" of Dak is beyond me.

I know you probably don't know a lot about psychology but you can read body language if you are in-tuned to things like that, I do it all the time. He could have been upset at himself, or Jason Garrett or Jones, but at the end of the day, Dak is the guy with his job.

If you were a better student of psychology you wouldn't jump from disappointment with the circumstances to a sentiment like hatred. Those are radically different things.

Racism cuts all kinds of ways bro. Sure there are definitely some fans who don't want a white quarterback or a black quarterback just because of race.

I think the team has done an awesome job this year in believing one another...supporting one another and fighting for one another. I'd love to see that attitude spread.

Thinking Romo is a better QB =\= Hating Dak

If you interpret all criticism as hate, you'll never be able to improve yourself.
Will one word calm you guys down? Okay, let's use the word "dislike". Here's a word "Doesn't care for". I'm not eating dinner with you tonight - You ain't getting a Christmas present.

Will any of those do?

You seem to be un-nuanced. You conflate hate with dislike, criticism, a desire to see the more experienced and better QB play according to some in their opinion, etc. It's possible to not hate/dislike Dak - even to like him very much as the next starter as QB of the team for the next ten to fifteen years and still constructively criticize him - but still want Romo to play because of his experience and ability to still play at a high level.

I know you don't feel this way because you hate Romo and so love the fact that Dak is playing. In other words, you're just projecting.

Wow bro. If someone doesn't agree with you on something...or dares to critique an aspect of a rookie's play...or dares to spread the credit around to more than one player on the team....such a fan is a hater and a racist!?

Don't you realize how full or prejudice that is? You are throwing all people who don't believe exactly the way you believe into the ugly bucket. You are playing god, claiming to knowing the motivation of other people that you've never met!

Why do you keep using the word "racist" man? I'm long past that right now. If you are not in this club then we're on the same page.

I'm talking about the Romo apologist out there. Go look around the board. Go look at the quarterback thread, it's all over the Cowboyszone. Guys that can't see that some guys dislike Dak are guys who don't want to see it.
