20 years from now football players will probably not have this worry but today he does and he put smoking weed over the team.

I hope he gets it sorted out for himself in the future.

Is there any chance the suspension gets reduced?

20 years from now, litigation from concussion cases and whatnot will have made football extinct.

NBA television ratings are putrid. Same for baseball for national games. A playoff game in baseball gets lower ratings than preseason NFL games.

You now see the ratings dropped 8 percent this year for the NFL. Off the field stuff is chasing people away. The thuggery, the women abuse, the PEDs, the drugs, the illicit behavior. Stuff just like this. The league is better served to tighten its rules, not loosen them.

Because people just discovered and started using drugs? NBA ratings were great in the 80's and I've heard some funny stories about Larry Bird and his teammates partying and smoking weed with rock stars of the day.

EDIT: The same can be said for the rest of what you said too. Nothing is really any different these days except that the media is everywhere.

Nobody really cares if players smoke weed.

Another uneducated person on this board. Amazing. If it was as much of a disease as stubbing your toe, the amount of people in treatment centers wouldnt be as high as it is. In your country or mine. Id love to see you watch a person detox from heroin and tell me its not a disease.

Let's not devolve into that old debate.

I'm a recovered alcoholic. Was I victim of disease or was I responsible? The answer is...BOTH.

Hypocrisy through and through! The whole premise behind these drug tests were to insure that playes weren't enhancing their performance unfairly by using drugs. How in the hades does marijuana enhance a players ability to play football?

You can be a drunken fool and it is perfectly acceptable, in fact, the stories about Bobby Lane and Max McGee playing drunk through a championship game are now a part of NFL lore. An owner can go out and get totaled on scotch and the next day, the money generated from hard fought games keep rolling in. But let one of these players smoke a little pot and their career is in danger. It just doesn't make sense.
It's simple. There are no corporations that create various brands of pot (like alcohol) and use revenue generated by selling it to buy advertising space for the NFL directly or indirectly. In other words, it's about money.

Whatever happened to masking agents??? I have buddies that got tons of jobs using those! Lol

I believe the NFL does a much more in depth test that includes looking for masking agents and diluted urine.

When I was younger I passed a test after smoking weed 2 days prior to the test by drinking a gallon of water an hour before the test. Where as in the NFL I would of failed for having diluted urine.

Miller Lite, the official beer of the Dallas Cowboys! Also more dangerous than cannabis.

I don't smoke, never really did.

I don't think they should get suspended for this though.
States are/have been making it legal.

It's bs.

Part of me agrees with you, however, the other part of me believes if I was investing millions of dollars in some one, I might want them to stay free of drugs. The are paying these guys to be in top physical and mental shape, not sure weed is real conducive to that.
