News: Gregory Suspended for a year

I have watched someone detox from heroine and I will still tell you it's not a diesease. I will never get sick and my doctor tell me I got a bad case of heroine addiction. Where exactly is that virus?
P.S. Its in your mind. If you are wondering where it is. Go read a book. Please, I beg you.

I think most on this board are just uneducated when it comes down to addiction in general. Seeing some of the comments here are beyond infuriating and mind boggling. I am actually ashamed to share the same team as some of these people.
I agree. The root of Randy's problem is not that he is an addict, but the fact that he is Bipolar and only feels "right" when he smokes dope. This is a very sad situation and is likely going to cost this very talented football player his career.

Let us all remember, he ain't that good anyway, and he's way out of shape. Dallas will be fine.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic. If you aren't, then you're correct. He's below average. Can't defend the run, and only QB pressures he gets are from his motor.

What a bummer. Shouldn't have got sucked back in. This stings :(

Whatever happened to masking agents??? I have buddies that got tons of jobs using those! Lol

That is what I thought for a long time. I do think some people that are called addicts could quit if they wanted to quit; however, I'm certain there are people that want to quit but just can't make themselves do it. There are other non-drug related mental issues that are very similar to drug addiction. People laugh about obsessive/compulsive people but it's a similar mental issue. They would like to quit doing certain behaviors but can't make themselves quit.

Unfortunately it's difficult to determine which people with drug issues are true addicts and which ones are just people that do whatever they want, whenever they want.

As Daryl Johnston said, you have to be stupid to get caught. They tell you when the tests are.

Rules are the rules, but its a shame that this is happening to him over something that should be legal and allowed. I haven't heard any reports of him actually doing anything harmful to himself or anyone else.

It's not the NFL's job to run a charity daycare for misfit boys. It has a right to set a drug policy like any business.
Quit all the hugging and dapping during the draft then. If you lack compassion for your players when they're at their lowest, stop the BFF papa bear act when their at their highest point.

Apparently they have never heard of the placebo effect.

Man, there are some judgemental shallow thinkers out there. Must be nice living in their little perfect world! (that wasn't directed at you philadon)

Then why the heck did they bother activating the guy and cutting someone to do it?

Hypocrisy through and through! The whole premise behind these drug tests were to insure that playes weren't enhancing their performance unfairly by using drugs. How in the hades does marijuana enhance a players ability to play football?

You can be a drunken fool and it is perfectly acceptable, in fact, the stories about Bobby Lane and Max McGee playing drunk through a championship game are now a part of NFL lore. An owner can go out and get totaled on scotch and the next day, the money generated from hard fought games keep rolling in. But let one of these players smoke a little pot and their career is in danger. It just doesn't make sense.

In addition, if you played hard enough to help your team get into the playoffs then your punishment is even more severe. You miss additional games, the playoff games.

What the freak! you can get suspended a specific number of games, like 2 or 4 or 10. Then, you can miss a larger number of games, a year. How many games? We don't know, they don't know, so it is inconsistent, uneven, totally unfair.

Another Cowboy lineman, Josh Brent, gets so drunk he accidentally kills a teammate. He gets a ten game suspension. he was on the field, playing, after thirteen games.

Gregory smokes a few bong hits, and he is out at least 17 games? No challenge figuring out Goodall's drug of choice.....

Yeah, but all it does really is hurt the shield. If they didn't test/suspend, nobody would ever know.
NBA television ratings are putrid. Same for baseball for national games. A playoff game in baseball gets lower ratings than preseason NFL games.

You now see the ratings dropped 8 percent this year for the NFL. Off the field stuff is chasing people away. The thuggery, the women abuse, the PEDs, the drugs, the illicit behavior. Stuff just like this. The league is better served to tighten its rules, not loosen them.

A no good player who had 1 sack already and numerous pressures in a couple games were all our other scrubs and no names had 0 in a year.

20 years from now football players will probably not have this worry but today he does and he put smoking weed over the team.

I hope he gets it sorted out for himself in the future.

Is there any chance the suspension gets reduced?

You are correct in what you said. I don't think Gregory has an addiction, however. He has bipolar disorder and many people with bipolar disorder self-medicate with marijuana. I'm not referring to you when I say this, but people are just plain wrong to call him a drug addict.

Do you have evidence of the bipolar diagnosis?
