If we lose tomorrow is this season a failure?

It had to be asked. I say bigtime failure! I know a lot of you say it's gravy as we found Dak, but it's more. We are 100% healthy for the first time this year and have HFA. We lose and it might be the worst loss in Cowboys history IMO. No pressure Rooks!

If you had asked me this during the middle of the season, I would have said no, but once you reach the divisional playoffs, any loss from that point on is a wasted opportunity.

Yes, we have young players like Dak, Elliott, etc. with a bright future ahead of them, but there's a lot more that goes into a season than just one or two players. Two years ago, we thought we were back. Then we lost Romo and Murray in 2015 and we went 4-12. Just because the future appears to be really good for the Cowboys does not guarantee we will be back in this position next year or in the next few years. You have to take advantage of your opportunities right now and let the future play out when it happens.

While I won't call this year a failure if we lose, given we ended up better than we hoped after losing Romo, I will say that losing any of the next three games will be wasting one of the best opportunities we have had in the last 10 years.

Speaking for me only.

For the season to be considered a "success" the Cowboys need to reach the NFCCG and win it.

They have obviously been the best team in the NFC all year. And if they cannot prove that on the field of play in the playoffs with HFA, plenty of time off and time to prepare, and with almost everyone available and healthy, then I just won't know what to think.

Other than we suck. And simply cannot handle the pressure of the playoffs.

Yes it's easy to say that we will be back in the thick of things with Dak/Zeke for the forseen future but nothing is ever guaranteed.

When we lost in 2007, we had a young Romo, Witten, Ware, Newman...many thought TO and the OL probably had 5 solid years left as well. I would guess we probably made the playoffs 50 percent of the time after that so that goes to prove nothing is guaranteed.

It's hard, the time is now. I will be optimistic about our future if we lose but as a Cowboys fan, anything less than a championship is always a failure.

Absolutely. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool or kidding themselves. This isn't youth sports where participation is all that matters. You are the 1 seed and played the way we did all year and worked hard to get to this spot. A loss tomorrow would be very bad. 100% failure and the players will tell you this if they are being truthful.

I didn't consider 2009 divisional round loss to Minnesota a failure because that year's team just wasn't that great. They got hot in the last weeks, faced the only team they could really beat in the playoffs and then got slaughtered by a much better team.

I was upset over the GB loss in 2014 obviously but didn't really deem that season a failure because of it. It was tough sledding to win it all with the playoff bracket we were dealt. We lost on the road at the end to a really good team.

But this year is nothing like those years. This is 2007. We are supposed to win and favored to do so.

Absolutely. You have some teams who do stay around like Seattle and NE. But so many others who never get back to that point. I never look at next year in the NFL. You go for it all now.

Look at the Eagles in 2013. Looked to have a very solid core for years to come. Foles, McCoy, Jackson, Ertz and a brand new coach/culture. Lost that playoff game to the Saints and they haven't been back since. You just never know what will unfold from season to season.

We also had no real killer injuries this year. We are as healthy as can be for this time of year. You have to take advantage of that. We've all seen seasons go down the crapper because of injuries after injuries seemingly every week.

Disappointing but nowhere near a failure. The team appears to have a bright future however a loss today throws doubt as to whether that future seems guaranteed or if it goes the way high potential but no real success. A win today will cement for me that the team led by Dak and Zeke is headed for big things. A loss will let doubts creep in about the level of success they will achieve.

If we were to lose, it would feel like a failure but long term we have the nucleus of players that will keep the Cowboys in the hunt for several years down the road.

Before the season most thought we would be lucky to go 8-8 at best. Most thought we were a lock to be drafting in the top 10 this year. So from that perspective if we lose tomorrow then this season wouldn't be a failure.

Fast forward to the playoffs and the overall picture of the Cowboy seems considerably changed. #1 seed? Seriously? Dak? What a journey this season has been. Playing a team we already beat this season only this time in our house it would feel like a failed season if we lose.

But the good news is....we will win and advance to the NFC Championship game!!!

Had we gone 10-6, made the Wildcard, and played well, etc I wouldn't consider it. But we have played better than anyone, outside of the Gents, and own HFA.

Also, just look at the Carolina Panthers. Cam and his WR's were relatively healthy all season....how did that turn out after 15-1??

We need to win. Losing would create too many question marks going into next season. Getting to our first NFC title since 96 would be big. I really believe whomever wins tomorrow will be the NFC rep in Houston as well.
