Is Prescott the next RG3/Kaepernick

I get the argument, and I'm fine with putting RG3 out there like that. I just think that Kaepernick is super close to Dak, EXCEPT kaep has never had a good WR set which skews how he plays a little.

I don't see them comparing at all really.

Deshaun Watson is more in the Kaepernick mold.

Dak is a traditional NFL passer.

Kap/RG3's game was predicated on them running around and then drawing the defense into them to account. Then when making simple throws when this defense is keyed on you. They were not very good in the pocket at all. Dak is 10x better in the product. And he only runs when he feels he needs to. Some would even say he needs to run more than he does.

I watched RG3 for the entire time he was in Washington. He has little pocket awareness, can't see the field well and doesn't have an NFL QB body and couldn't take the hits. Didn't know when or even how to slide. On that of that he was a "ME ME" guy. That read option was figured out pretty quick by the league. Basically beat the hell out of the QB every time he runs it until he can't run it anymore. The problem with him and Shanahan was Shanahan figured out he was a one trick pony, but he had a pretty good trick until the body broke apart.

Also, RQ3 could never read more then half the field. Just wasn't wired to do that. He does have an NFL quality arm and maybe the rest of the stuff can be taught. That said, I don't think RG3 will be starting anywhere next year baring an injury to the number 1 guy.

Kapernick is just a plain weird one and about two french fries short of a happy meal at McDonalds. His mechanics are awful and his accuracy is affected by those mechanics.

PS. Don't know about Kapernich, but RG3 based on reports from the Commanders insiders never worked at his craft. He thought his legs and arm talent would get him through anything he encountered. Doesn't work that way for QB's in this league.

Dak's greatest strengths are his intelligence, excellent decision making, leadership, work ethic, unflappability, and clutch play. Those traits are inherent in a player, they are either there or they aren't, and are why Dak is on his way to becoming a superstar in the NFL.

Found this gif and just had to use it here.
Hold on there...with that Kap/RG comparison!

We can't know the future with certainty, so let's all kill ourselves because it could be bad.

Wait, that's stupid as hell.

Dude you don't get it? Comparing their style of play is not the point.

Their style of play is totally the point. Their style of play explains why they were a flash in the pan. Dak not playing that style is strong evidence that he probably won't fail in the same way they did.

Guys who never grew out of 1-read-and-run clowns simply aren't comparable to a guy actually running a proper pro offense.

you just 100% described kaepernick tho. he was always pass first.
For his career Cap averages around 1 rush per every 4 passes and was even higher when Harbaugh was there. Sample size is small for Dak but its 1 rush to 9 pass attempts. The stats obviously don't show if its a designed run or not.

Because the style of football Dak plays is repeatable and has been repeatable throughout NFL history.

What RG3 and KAepernick were doing kinda caught the league with their pants down but now it's been stopped and their bodies just can't take the hits that are required to play the way they play.
I believed this from the beginning. It's very repeatable and just dependent on our players getting open. Dak does a great job of hitting open receivers on short to intermediate routes. I thought teams would begin clogging those lanes throughout the season, but we always seemed to have a counter for it, specifically Zeke. That duo will be very good for years to come. In the draft show last year, Broaddus said the one impressive thing about Dak is how much better he got every year. I expect the same to happen here
