Whats the deal, ive been with them for 15 years and im getting hosed
Ok, bear with me, Coach --
Yesterday I called DTV, I informed them that on 1 Feb (today) my 2 year contract ended and that I wanted to be connected to customer retention. Once I was transferred to customer retention, I asked them the best offer they had to keep me. They told me all they had was 6 months of free Cinemax. I told them I don't watch Cinemax (I only have HBO). I informed them that I have TWC/Spectrum for Internet and that they have attractive offers for bundling internet and digital cable. I also told them that I would prefer to stay with DTV because of the customer service and great quality. I let them know that I have purchased PPV events and paid for Sunday Ticket (implying I was a customer that spent some extra money on their services).
Still, the rep didn't budge. I was very nice to her, tho.
After realizing I was getting no where, I told her that if I got off the phone and there was no deal that I would not be using their services anymore and that I would immediately call TWC and use their bundle offer. She said that's all she could do (the 6 months of free Cinemax). So, I cancelled my service. Ordered a box to be mailed to send back my digital receiver, the whole nine yards.
Like I promised her, I immediately called TWC and got an amazing deal for a year, locked in. This all took place around 11am.
So, around 4pm, a department within DTV called me. A part seperate from the main departments and the "real" customer retention. The ones who have the codes to pretty much do as they please to retain their subscribers.
She offered me my current package @ $85 for the year (I was paying ~$115), free Sunday Ticket, AND a $200 Visa Card. She also took off the remaining two Sunday Ticket payments I had scheduled, which I would have had to pay even if I switched services. I couldn't pass it up. And it's only a year contract.
I didn't have this planned, Coach. Like I said, I had already set up an appointment for TWC to come out and hook up my new box.
I was stoked.
