From the Texans board - no panic

If you were Houston and know that Romo will be a June 1 cut then why would you offer anything substantial when you can pick him up without giving up any picks? Just need to beat Denver for his services.

Because you can have him without risking to lose him to another team.

To secure his services now while being assured that you don't have to give up anything if it doesn't work out.

Understand that but I've not giving up anything substantial for someone that I know will be cut. If I were the Texans I wouldn't. Maybe a 5 or 6 rounder this year and maybe a conditional 4th rounder next year if that.

And that appears to be the game they are willing to play. I wouldn't do it, but we'll see how it works out for them.

Cowboys won't have Romo one way or another, and we may not get anything for him. I have come to terms with this.

But this is the definition of getting too cute if you're Houston. You are a Romo away from being SB contenders, and are wanting to have the cake and eat it too by getting Romo and keeping the draft pick.

Almost hopes Denver swoops in, and wins the bidding war at this point and Houston throws their SB away trying to be the smartest GM in the room.

Fantastic post....spot on.

I really trust the opinion of these guys:

Houston will panic soon enough. There are no good QB's on the Free Agent market. Jimmy Grap will cost two #1's. Good luck with that Houston

I'd love to see the Jags do it.

This is very much why Id love to see them get burned on this.

All Huston has to do is bring a QB such as cutler or Fitzpatrick or any other ufa for a visit and Jerry will cave

Fitzpatrick!?! Really? He's an interception machine.

Cutler, maybe, but still... ugh.

Houston thinks they're a QB away from the Super Bowl. No way Ryan Fitzpatrick is on that list of possibilities.

Seems like Cutler is the only alternative if Houston loses out on Romo.

Cutler has a major attitude problem, but he has a cannon for an arm and is way better than freaking Osloser so at least they can tell their fans they upgraded.

Sure they can tell them that, but anyone with a brain knows that Jay Cutler is a LOSER with a capital L.

Cutler is Osweiler with more experience. He still isn't and will never be a SB contending QB.

signing cutler is a good way to get the gm fired.
actually signing romo is also a good way to get him fired also if they do not have an experienced QB like Osweiller for backup
