Twitter: Video: Parcells coaching young Romo

I would like to see a compare and contrast video of parcels and garret coaching Romo. Want to see how different they are.

It would've obviously been very different considering Romo was already considered the franchise QB by the time Garrett took over.

I do believe Garrett and the current staff does deserve some credit for how Romo evolved over the years. We do have several former quarterbacks on our staff and it sure helped Dak.
 
Funny watching this video, Parcells first thing he said is "you gotta get the call out of your hands, you're gonna get killed".

I love Romo but I wish he learned that one. He took way too many shots and all of the injuries towards the end of his career cost him a couple opportunities.
 
Great stuff right there in that video, a mighty Big sin that we were never able to surround Tony with a truly dominating team. Finally gets that shot vs GB, beautiful ballsy clutch pass to Dez and the refs ***** us. That pass was clutch in a huge situation, perfect throw and Tony still got dog'd. It turns out that Garrett ***** him too in the end.
 
Tony credited a few people to helping him. I think Payton was a bigger help than Parcells. I dont even know if we would have had Romo if not for Sean.

I never understood the praise Sean Payton (who I like) gets for Romo.

He didn't know who Romo was until Romo got here. Romo has stated that the guy that really worked with him here was David Lee. And Payton was the guy that wanted him to start in Day 1 of 2003 and Romo has stated that he wasn't nearly ready at that time.

Nobody has a better record of coaching up more QB's in this league than Parcells. He made Ray Lucas and Quincy Carter look like competent starters and Vinny Testaverde into a Pro Bowler.

I would have liked to have Payton as the HC here in 2007 when Romo had his first full season as starter, but he had little to do with Romo and could have destroyed his career he was the HC here in 2003.

Keep all these awesome Romo videos coming! It's the off season weeks before the draft and it brings a smile through the sadness! You knew once Parcells handed him the reigns the search for a franchise QB was over. No more Henson, no more Hutchinson, no more visions of Kevin Sweeney...Just wish the coach would have hung on for three more years. I will keep saying it....this franchise and fans were down right spoiled with Romo's play. From the time he walked on the field, even with the mistakes, this team reached a different level. A level of respect and a true game plan other teams had to acknowledge. We can gush over the prospects of Dak when training camp starts. Now is the time to honor a great one in cowboys history.
 
Too bad there are no more TC's in San Antonio.

Now we have Jerry blackballing us from getting a club instead.

Indeed...the catch 22 in all of that is that buying time to "make a play" was part of his secret sauce (what made him successful as a QB)...a metaphor for life I'd say. Often our greatest gift can also be our worst enemy. Alas, Tony ultimately succumbed to his greatest gift with the pressure he felt so many times over the years to will this team to victory. People will say he often tried to do too much, which is what got him into trouble (and killed). While true, I would also say that he did so much because he was on teams that forced him into those situations...without his heroics we'd have been a lot worse off.

Sorry to see him forced out of the game due to injury but happy for his second career in the booth. Though I cringed that it is with CBS as I think their NFL coverage is horrible.
 
Oh well. Wish that he would of taken that advice in the past 2-3 years, but that's also what made Romo, Romo.

His ability to dance, hold onto the ball and then connect on that "impossible" pass/catch that left us in awe.
Of course, we all know the downside to it as well.
