Tony carried this team for years. Forced to make throws he probably didn't want to because he never knew how many points could put a game away. Shootout with Denver is an example......

2009: Special teams draft
2010: 2nd rounder Sean Lee

It seems that Ware was every bit the transformational player but we whiffed repeatedly with our other defensive selections and the defense crumbled around him.

Well stated Doomsday had Randy White, Too Tall Jones, Harvey Martin - 3 sack masters..... Jimmys team had Haley, Casillas, Maryland... it takes more than one player to control the line and get to the QB...

I consider that game to be the perfect example of Tony's career. He out played one of the greatest QBs of all time; in the year that was his best of all time. Yet all the haters want you to remember is his one pick. And that was because as you put it he could not trust his D. And thus pushed too hard and took too many chances. I remind the haters that the Dallas D was unable to force ONE SINGLE PUNT THAT DAY.

I would like to know just how many times Tony brought the O back to score and take the lead in the 4th qtr only to have the D give it away. I am willing to bet that it far exceeds Brady and Manning put together

We know that Tony has more 4th quarter comebacks than any active QB for wins, so you're probably right.

Coughlin flat out said he copied the Giants 2000's D after the Boys 1990's D. He understood that the more pass rushers you had the better. IT was that Depth that won them those SBs.

With the exception of 2007 when Ellis, Ratlif and others had career years, there was never anyone that could really take the heat off of Ware.

This is true, but I'd also like to point out that those teams also gave up TD's after Romo had gotten them the lead. They couldn't close out

How many years did people here complain about Ware's "empty" sack stats. Every year there was a horde of people saying that Ware didn't get sacks when they really need them but racked them up in garbage time. Spencer was almost universally hated for not getting enough sacks. Fans constantly complained that Ratliff was too small at NT and fans wanted "more beef" in the middle. Every year some at CZ would propose going to a 4-3.

All of those complaints don't happen if the D was great.

Look at Romo's stats over the years. It seems almost impossible for a team to not win big with those stats unless the defense was a problem.

I will never understand the thought of an "empty" sack. I mean how often does 1 player make a sack to end a game? I'm not even sure if they keep track of a stat like that. But it would be interesting to look at the top 10 sack leaders and see how many times each one made a "game ending" sack.

Nobody will ever be happy, someone will always find something to complain about. Ware was a great player

Not only that but it was proven wrong that Ware didn't show up in the 4th.

His sacks by quarter: 1st Q - 34.5; 2nd Q - 40.5; 3rd Q - 25; 4th Q - 38.5.

One example that stands out in support of the above - didn't he close out the game against NO with a strip sack of Brees when we beat them (they were undefeated at the time, I believe) in 2009? Not only that, but it was only week after we all thought he screwed his neck up really bad.

and then there is his epic series in the 2015 AFC championship game when it was all on the line. Even years past his prime.

Several of the local media have commented that Jaylon looks much bigger than they expected. One said he looked more like a DLineman than a LB.

It would be good to see a pic of him next to Lee and the other LBs for reference.

Love Ware but how many offsides penalties did he draw during this time..when the game was on the line..
