The multiple opinion I like, dislike or am meh about Taco Charlton thread **merged**

The issue is he and Irving are same guy. Was listening to Sturm earlier and agree with him. He likes the guy but his bend for his size is strong side and not weak so you have two guys that aren't exactly switchable side to side

Irving to me looks better rushing inside so they should be able to line up together if need be.

This looks like a guy Rod wanted. Well you got him so now it's time to back up this belief you are a DL whisperer.

If this team struggles to get to the Aqaba in 2017, new contract or not, you may have to wonder if Rod really still has the touch.

Taco at RDE would get neutralized quickly by good LT. Has almost no burst. His position is LDE and Irving will move inside to DT is likely. Team is still in search of RDE. Maybe they can get someone after June 1st cuts but I don't see teams letting those guys go. Might be time to call Ware. I know he just retired last week but things just got serious.

What changed between today and yesterday? Things have always gotten serious. What RDE did you want in this draft?

why the dramatics.

they picked him at 28 not 2.

He will be expected to be a contributing member of the defense. They have a pretty good group to rotate with at the moment. He doesnt have to play every snap for 10 years like ware did. He just needs to be a good player.

... but I hate this pick! I just watched a 10 minute HIGHLIGHT video of Taco and I didn't see one single play that made me think this guy is anything special. He had one play against Indiana where he was completely unblocked, the qb took a 5 step drop and moved towards him and he still didn't get home. UGH... I hope I'm wrong!

That's why I didn't see him coming here but I like the pick in case we can't sign Irving after next season

Yeah I'm fine with the pick too..

Has some upside and not much downside.

I hope our next pick is Maliek McDowell and we could put a real end to this DLine being a weakness.

Because a lot of people feel like Watt is/will be the better player.

Yep. Ppl forget this is a pick @28.

It's not dramatics. It's reality.

Your so far off it's not even funny and I usually tend to agree with you. Don't be lazy and just go off of the height thing. See what this guy has to say cause he is correct.

That's great but many others are saying Irving and he are same guy with Irving maybe even being better. I'm all for wait and see and at this point it's a crap shoot but I thought a Taco pick was "meh". Not a bad pick per se and a contributor but not a "stud" in my book. I'd love to be wrong and get free tacos when he gets a sack

I think Rod has earned the benefit of the doubt considering what he's had to work with. He's developed Lawrence and has been hamstring with Tapper's injury and of course Gregory's status.

Our 36 sacks were the most since 2011 so we're improving and Taco won't be the end-all. Plus, this draft really starts in round two. It was always more of a deep draft than a wow draft.

Plenty of time to add more great players.

Living in Michigan I saw all the Wolverine games. Trust me when I say this: The Boys have something special here, and I'm not a Michigan fan. He had ankle problems most of last year, yet some games he could not be blocked. I was saying to myself, it would be nice to have him come to the Boys. Now my prayer is answered. He doesn't look like he runs fast but he ate breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in the opposing teams backfield (against good teams). This guy just started coming into his own last year and now he is fully healthy. I saw him rush well at both sides of the line. He has a very quick spin move for a 6-6 guy. I love the pick. No doubt in my mind he will be the Boys best rusher this year.

He is likely decent LDE. Problem is RDE is barren wasteland.

The NFL produced about six 4-3 ends last season that got double digit sacks. Chances are---you aren't going to land one of those guys at the 28th pick unless you get lucky. If Taco is a 6-8 sack guy, we got our draft value.

Remember, Dallas was a middle of the pack team in sacks last season...not nearly as bad as most fans think. I said going into the draft, we need to set our sights on another piece to the puzzle that can get a half dozen sacks...you aren't getting a "war daddy" at pick 28.
