It all boils down to how bad he wants to have a career in the NFL............playing in the NFL is not a right, its a privilege and there are some things you cannot do, using your own example.

If you want to play in the NFL, you cannot have sex 20 times a day. (sex addiction)

Wut??? Like, wut?? Lmaooooo!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha

Oh, geez, for a second there I thought "this dude might be serious."

Then I laughed. Then I realized we may have Amish fans.

Legit laughed out loud. Thanks, East. That was a good one. Satire is awesome, you've perfected it (at least for this thread)!!!!

Jerry needs to study the urine himself before he officially confirms this a legit positive test.

It's like Jerry ain't even mad. I think they're getting ready to change the rules, so why would it matter. It's not like Randy is a bad guy, and Jerry knows that he knows the player. Jerry isn't concerned

I think the difference is these guys don't want the "pills" it makes them stupid and dependent on them. I can't remember where I saw, but I remember a story that players would smoke and hide it really well and not take the pills. It's a different type of relief that seems to help ileviate the pain. I know because I went to smoking over the pills 6 years ago after an accident I was in. So I can understand why the players fight for it. For as liberal the drug policy is, it still has a conservative view on meds. JMO
If you worked for a place with a zero tolerance drug policy, perhaps you would not do what you have done. I too deal with pain on a regular basis having had two back surgeries but if I took something not prescribed to me or smoked as you do I would definitely lose my job the next time I won the random drug test lottery and had to piss in a cup. As it is, I get by on a LOT of Aleve which works better than any prescription I have ever been given. As for Gregory, he is free to make his stand but it will be at the cost of a pretty high paying job. He is free to give that up if he prefers to smoke but the NFL is also free to manage their drug policy as they see fit. A player can conform to it or pass up a lot of money for drugs.

I applaud you for taking the aleve. Best thing I ever did was stop taking those pills. I hated how I felt on them, it wasn't a good feeling at all. I can't for the life of me figure out why people would want to do that crap in high doses.

As far as him taking a stand maybe he is who knows? Maybe this is all bs? Who knows? What we do know is from comments by Jerry and the NFLPA they are going to get changes made, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was for next year. So therefore it wouldn't matter anyways. Listen to the PC from the draft today when Jerry is asked about it.

It all boils down to how bad he wants to have a career in the NFL............playing in the NFL is not a right, its a privilege and there are some things you cannot do, using your own example.

If you want to play in the NFL, you cannot smoke pot. (drug addiction)
If you want to play in the NFL, you cannot gamble on sporting events, especially not NFL games. (gambling addiction)
If you want to play in the NFL, you cannot eat a buffet every single meal. (food addiction)
If you want to play in the NFL, you cannot have sex 20 times a day. (sex addiction)

So no, people that do these behaviors are not stupid but they also do not have playing in the NFL at the top of their to do list.
I agree with you.
It's just sad to see how many people are so quick to call Gregory awful names and label him an idiot or stupid. Remember Jared Lorenzen the hefty lefty...his addiction was food. He ate himself out of pro football. Eddie Lacey is wasting his career because he can't keep his weight down.

Anyone who understands addiction and people with true adddiction issues should have seen this coming for Gregory. Once he failed multiple drug test and admitted that he wasn't a party guy and used the drug to deal with a mental issue it was pretty clear this is how it would end. It doesn't make him an idiot or stupid as some like to call him. But I agree that with the current state of the NFL and the medical and mental health community not have the right answers for addicts that he is not going to have a career in this league.
I hope he finds his happiness in life.

That's my main issue is the fake righteous people on the website. They pick and choose when to display morals and who they hold to their personal moral standards. It's disgusting

Does not change the fact that there is not one shred of evidence that he has any mental illness ........

When Alonzo Spellman and Dimitrius Underwood was playing they had evidence of their illness and the league took this into account anytime they were up for punishment ........ if Gregory was really mentally sick the Cowboys would make it known so the league would take that into account.

Yes, the Cowboys would disclose medical information. You do know that's illegal, right? The CBA has obvious exemptions for injuries that affect game status but this isn't that. Perhaps he did give permission for that information to come out in his appeal. The league has no obligation to do anything with that. This is a league with an already very dumb marijuana policy, they they are going to care about underlying causes for use.

What???

He smokes weed for an illness. It's like popping a pill and going about your day. I mean do people think he's like huddled in a corner like a heroin addict looking for his next score?

Doctors smoke, Lawyers smoke, people smoke and you'd never know. But to pray for him or his family likes he's on skid row just sounds ridiculous.
If people ONLY knew of the high power/profile jobs (doctors, lawyers and such) these sly puffers held, it would blow their minds.

Before my time, but my pops and his boys would tell us stories about big time parties and Quaaludes back in NY. He ends with man those were the days you kids missed out on a good one.. Quaaludes.... it's a damn shame... I busted out laughing. Now he's just a retired business owner.

Completely unsurprised. I knew this guy would be out of the league in a couple of years. Reading the article over at yahoo sports, it sounds as if those close to Gregory believe that he just doesn't care about playing football again.

Total waste of a draft pick. Don't draft a guy with mental issues.

Klonopin is awesome! And prescribed to me! Yay!
My last ex was B P and would give me some of those to help me sleep,,, I would try to monitor her inventory of prescribed medication to ensure she was taking it,,,, but most of the time the signs and actions were present way before me finding out she wasn't taking them( does that make sense to you, what I'm trying to explain?),,, she left a bunch of that stuff around here somewhere,,, along with a couple clothes baskets full of leopard print high heels and stuff,,,she took my $2500 saline implants along with her though,,,:lmao2::lmao::lmao2::facepalm:

yeah he's bi-polar and weed has helped him. it just sucks because it clear that he's been smoking weed since high school and yet it in no way diminished his ability since he ended grading as a 1st round pick. just kind sucks we are stuck in archaic times when it comes to weed.

Weed is not the only possible treatment for bipolar.

Soooo...nuts to that excuse.
