Wow. one time I faced down a momma bear while her cubs were tearing apart my dads pear tree I had my 444 marlin trained on the momma she stood up on her hind legs and she was no more than 20 feet from me... she walked away with her cubs thank the lord lol.
Cool, hey max! Tell me more bout your .444 marlin
Do you like it/ still have it? It's gotta have the trajectory of a rainbow, what's the heaviest gr. Projectiles you push on that?
I've played/ reloaded 45-70 for awhile, even had that B.F.R. 5 shot revolver (what a boat anchor) they were fun, my horse/hunting buddy is a licensed guide
Goes up to Alaska every summer packs the stainless steel Marlin guide gun in 45-70 ,Williams rear peep sight,,, I even gave him my 1880 canvas U.S. buckle stamped cartridge belt(loaded with 48 rounds of my hand loads,,,he looked like a kid at Christmas:lmao2: I'd hate to try swimming with that thing on, they were all 550 grain bullets:laugh:)

I have 265 grains they look like little hand grenades lol. I once hit a 400 lb black bear at about 100 yards with it he moaned and drooped where he stood.

What a hell of a gift, Melon!!!!

Hey Max! If you ever get bored google search: Larry Mad Dog Shriver he was LRRP/ special forces in Nam, he brought a Marlin. 444 from back on leave to use it on the jungle bunkers he encountered,,, but then again that cat was a little whack too,,,he went on one patrol with 10 s&w model 10 revolvers guess he didn't waste time reloading:lmao2:

Do you eat what you catch, Max?
No man we catch and release because I really want the lake to grow.
I would only keep a trophy fish to mount.
I had a couple of bass that were close but I put them back.

It's a damn shame they don't let soldiers do that anymore.

That man was armed like Blackbeard!

Right on, Max. I love cooking the fish I catch, especially for breakfast. Everyone's different, tho. One of my battles that lives in Wyoming, runs a non profit called Project Healing Waters, and he mostly catch and releases

One time me and my brother woke up at the cabin late cause we had been drinking the night before lol.
It was about 10 am. I opened the back door and there at the end of the clearing was an 8 pointer...
I grabbed my marlin my brother was like what??
I opened up off the back step.
I put on my pants an followed the blood trail about 200 yrds into the woods.
There was my trophy.
I went back to drinking lol.

I know! I got pretty tight with the battalion armorer, he'd hooked me up with extractors/ejectors and the complete innards of the feed cover for my M-60,,but they were pretty .much done worn out anyway.

Blackbeard was the MAN!

Ha! .270 win. Has kinda been a hit or miss with me(I've got a ruger #1 that prints 3 holes you cover with a dime @100 yards)
But in the 'flinch' of a jump /brush shot I just don't pan out that well with it(rib shots needle straight thru,or over estimate range and zip it over their back)
I had more fun /success loading the 22-250 up with 70 grain s.p. and just neck shooting them.
I had sawn the barrel of an old barn gun single shot 12 ga. Back to 18.5" and put a wire twist front sight on it with black tape wrapped around that, an old Kentucky hillbilly showed me the trick of rimming(glad wally putty ain't here)the shotshell to where the whole half of the plastic shell travels out the barrel encapsulating the shot charge, when it hits it thumps a huge hole in flesh,,, I dropped a big doe around dusk 200 yards out in a soybean field once with that " Panama Rig"
Man! I miss deer meat now just talking about it.
