Officially the worst offseason ever?

And I stand by that post and this one. We didn't make our defense better that offseason and it showed versus Green Bay when it mattered the most. We caught lightning in a bottle with Dak and made the playoffs (which no one could have predicted), but it was with a last place schedule and in spite of our defense. This year's offseason is worse because of the suspensions and because our rivals got comparably better on offense and we are relying on rookies and unproven players on defense. Again, I hope I am wrong and I am not showing you your email next year.
You do realize the difference between a "first place schedule" and "last place schedule" is two games, right?

While New England reloaded for another Super Bowl, I can't help but feel like this offseason has gone off the rails for us. I am trying to be optimistic, and I love our core, but I fear that the tumult of this offseason will result in a pretty big step back on the field this year. And it will take another year for us to reach our Super Bowl potential. In a nutshell:

1. Jerry misplays the Romo situation and we get nothing for a franchise QB who still can play.
2. We make no free agent signings of note and lose 3/4 of our starting DBs (which I was OK with) and 2/5 of our starting OL.
3. We miss out on all of the speed pass rushers in the first round of the draft (and allow Atlanta to leapfrog us for the last one) and draft yet another LDE.
4. Our most promising pass rusher and disruptor, David Irving, gets suspended 4 games, continuing a pattern set by D Law and Gregory.
5. Our starting SLB, and best coverage LB, Damien Wilson, assaults a woman with his car and pulls a rifle on her friends. No doubt, he'll be suspended for a long time.
6. Our franchise RB may be suspended, according to John Clayton.
7. Even our choir boy QB and leader is accused of fraud, for selling memorabilia he did not sign by hand.

On top of this, we have a very difficult first place schedule. I am excited for our future. But, in all honesty, I expect to be diaappointed this season.

Officially one of the worst threads ever. Instead of wanting some kind of media splash to cheer about, delve into what the Cowboys have been doing for the last several years. If you do, then you'll see that there is nothing to worry about. They are going about things in the way that will produce consistently winning results.

And those 2 games are the Falcons away and Packers at home. Add to that Seattle at home, AFC West (including Raiders away), and an improved NFC East. You do realize that's a very tough schedule?

True and I think for this team to show they are legit they should welcome this challenge.

That's only because you have already forgotten all about the offseason where I penned this:

Do you have the time to listen to my whine about nothing and everything all at once?

The Cowboys look great in their current state excluding running back and the guy that punts.

Of course, this is all on paper, and could disappear like vapor, once the pads come on and the season begins.

I’m cautiously optimistic, despite all the bull(explicit), that relentlessly surrounds the blue and silver men

DeMarco Murray the reviled traitor said, “see you later” and is off to greener pastures in Philly

He’s turning in the blue star and moving afar to a place where their trophy case looks silly

Murray claims “it’s not about the money,” but even more funny “winning a Superbowl” was the reason

He may have a good year but mark my words here; his wife is the only trophy he’ll be toting by end of season.

Dez wants a long term deal, is insulted by 13 mil, tweeting to the nation “where is my security?”

The nation amidst a roar of laughter, not long after, responded at large questioning his maturity.

You see, scoffing at that kind of money, it ain’t even funny to the underpaid average joes like myself

That talk should stay in house, like a cat surrounded mouse, and left alone to collect dust on the shelf.

Joe Randle of underwear thievery fame, stole even more shame, claiming Murray “left meat on the bone”

While I will somewhat agree, it’s not up to me, to replace the dirty yards Murray fought for on his own.

Randle needs to learn, that everything he can earn, he will do so with hard work and his feet.

So shut your mouth, keep your baby mama drama in-house, and prove it in a little less than 8 weeks.

The infamous Greg Hardy, the perennial life of the media party, has issues on both sides of the page.

From crossing pc lines on twitter to allegedly being a woman-hitter, he may be better suited for a cage.

But now donning the silver & blue, the haters may boo but the Cowboys faithful will take him in embrace

Just so long as he plays, does so well on Sundays and lives in the opposing quarterbacks face.

The oft-berated Brandon Carr, wants to be paid like a superstar and refuses to consider playing for less.

With his best years behind him, he is clearly cashing in, screaming to anyone who will listen “I feel blessed!”

Be that as it may, there could come a day when he looks back on these years spent with the Cowboys in vain.

This year is his last chance to change the public stance that he looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.

Randle Gregory the rookie, was worth a looksy, where the Cowboys took him in the second round

Considered a top 10 talent, the Cowboys put him in a balance, and gambled he could put the doobies down.

That remains to be seen, but on the TV screen his eyes sure do look squinty, foggy and red

Some say that’s how he looks, others say he’s cooked; but I say a pothead knows a pothead.

Now that we are caught up, we are collectively stuck in the blackhole of the offseason.

Two more months, to get over this last bump and once again are lives will have reason.

As we count the days, and cope in our various ways I hope this prose helps you through the rough patch.

To close, it’s been hell, and by the way **** the NFL, your blind if you don’t think that was catch!!!

On paper, sure. But you can't judge this year's schedule on last year's results. And the entire NFC East plays the Seahawks. The Giants get the Bucs and Lions. A couple pretty good teams, too. The Eagles face the Panthers, who could bounce back and it wouldn't shock anyone. The Commanders play the Vikings and Saints, who could win their divisions and would shock nobody.

What you're missing is that Dallas could be improved, too.

True, I hope we are improved. I hope that D Law, D Moore, Irving, and Taco can improve the pass rush. If not, we play a lot of great QBs and it is going to be a very tough road.

Aikman: Hypocrisy of Johnson, Jones unraveled '90s Cowboys

As Troy said

The argument of Jimmy and Jerry -- that can go on forever. I mean they'll write books about that," said Aikman.

"When I point back to those years, the thing that Jimmy would always say to us ... 'If we achieve what we want to achieve as a team, there will be enough credit to go around for everybody. And the reason we won three Super Bowls -- Emmitt, myself, Michael, Daryl Johnston, Darren Woodson, Charles Haley, go through the whole list of guys -- everybody kind of just said, 'Hey, OK, we're gonna sacrifice a little individually.'

"But the guy telling us that and the owner of the club -- they couldn't do that. And that's the disappointing thing to me that that's what was preached to us, and yet the two guys who really ran the club, they couldn't unfortunately, you know, put their differences aside for the betterment of the team."

What are you talking about? I honestly didn't read anything past this.

Really?

Cliff notes because you stopped reading: Suspensions (Irving, Gregory) and the prospect of suspensions (Wilson, Elliott), insignificant improvement to pass rush, and reliance on rookies (Awuzie, Lewis, Woods) and retreads (Cooper) to replace starters lost in the secondary and at OL.

Guess u werent a fan of the QBless Cowboys offseason before Bledsoe and Romo.

1. No team wanted to trade for Rlomo because of a bad back.
2. There were FA's to sign that fit Dallas? Are people really crying bout DBs who they cried about during the season?
3. Who are these speed rushers? Other than Garrett.
4. Irving, it is what it is. NFL isnt going to cut any breaks on any substances wether its a honest mistake or not.
5. Best coverage LB? Really are u just posting this to be dramatic? You havent heard of Sean Lee?
6. John Clayton? lol
7.

Close your laptop or put ur phone away and go outside get some fresh air because u cant handle the offseason lol

This is not the worst offseason in my opinion. The Boys went through the 5-11 seasons and the offseason for those were extremely hard. The offseason after the 8-8 campaigns were pretty brutal as well.

Maybe the FO thinks our coaches can coach up what we got on the roster and doesn't feel the need to go sign FAs. As far as the off field incidents, it is what it is. Let's move on and get this **** going. When the hell is training camp!!!!!

I agree, but the stakes are higher this offseason. This was a playoff team that had a chance to go to the super bowl.
