Who gives a **** where they got him? That's no excuse if the guy sucks and the other one plays well! They were both there for the taking! Amazing! This is what I'm talking about, where excuses for failure start already!

Danielle Hunter is one of the best pass rushers in the league, already, Minnesota got him in the 3rd round while the Cowboys took Randy 'smoke em if ya got em ' Gregory.

Late 1st round had better be a damn good player.

Point being it's different positions. Not the same duties, responsibilities, size or speed. Taco isn't going to be a better player in a 3-4 and Watt isn't going to be a better player at end in a 4-3. We run a 4-3 so best player available was Taco. You like Watt but he wasn't the better player, most likely was drafted in late first round because his brother otherwise he is a 2nd-3rd round talent

I hope the guy becomes the next JPP, but I've said before that he wasn't my guy or my pick. But it's way too early to make any kind of snap judgements on anything.

I'm so glad you speak for everybody in the world. Like I said at first, if my comment didn't apply to you then why reply. It's not that serious. Some are down on Taco........if that's not you then continue down the road with other important things. You beating around the bush for some argument or justification in unnecessary. That's fine. I welcome the debate. Those same "people" will get it right back about switching to the 4-3 in the first place and once again struggling to get to the quarterback.

The days of Shante Carver, Ebenezer Ekuban, and countless 4-3 DE misses all over again.

The fact is that if a guy can rush the passer, he can rush the passer. And players have gone back and forth between the schemes. Pigeon-holing Watt while they draft guys like Gregory is dumb. I don't care what scheme it is.

So I'm clear on your stance: What you are saying is if Watt gets 10 sacks as a 3-4 olb this season, it stands to reason he would get that same amount of sacks playing on a different team and playing what is for the most part a completely different position?

What? It's not about the 3-4 having a pass rush advantage over the 4-3. It's the point that your comparison is essentially assuming that should Watt have a great season, we can reasonably assume he would experience a like season playing a completely different position on a completely different team in a completely different scheme. My point is that's not necessarily true. The truth is as a 4-3 de, he would most likely be used as a passrush specialist in the early going and would hardly see the field. Furthermore, Taco and Watt are two completely different styles of pass rushers. Watt is pure speed; he's not winning with strength against any NFL caliber OL. Watt simply doesn't currently have the physical makeup to do so. Taco has the frame to carry the requisite strength to be a 3-down DE, but he will require strength and conditioning to get there. My guess is we really won't fully appreciate Taco until next year.
