The Legend of Rico Gathers Grows

No matter what happens from this point forward he never makes it to the practice squad. If you cut him you have to know that there's no way he clears waivers.

If he keeps showing out it's a moot point. The battle then would be between Swaim and Hanna if we don't keep 4 TEs.

I think the battle is already between Hanna and Swaim

There are several ways to use Rico until he gets better overall. Just use him in the redzone. That should be good for few TD. At the least, the threat of having him out there should help other receivers in the redzone.

Put him out wide and block on the run for Bease and Switz until his inline blocking gets better. Defenders won't be able to see Bease/Swtiz running behind Rico.
Good ideas !!!

You very well could be right. There are going to be some tough decisions on cuts this year. If Rico plays like he did last night again there's no way he's going anywhere. He still needs a lot of work on the mental side of things, but his talent is undeniable, and should be enough to solidify a spot.

I won't bump any of my old Rico threads. The mods already have plenty to keep them busy.

I will just say it's nice to see the fan footprint growing.

Shades of my early love for Beastley & how that panned out.

For every Tashard Choice there's a Cole Beastley.
Rico was my pet cat. Was hyped for his pass catching plays. His blocking, he seemed not interested in blocking except one play I remember. Looking forward to seeing him in future preseason games.

If Dallas implements a rub route for Bryant and where Rico comes across to shield Bryant's man this offense will be even more potent. Rico is a natural to run this route because its similar to a pick and roll in basketball.
To bad us(cowboys) will draw flags every time we do,,,unlike the "***** packers",,, that's right I used a juvenile denigrating term to describe a despised opponent!,,, there was a court baliff who is a 49's fan when a judge had the power to frog march me into court on his whimsical fancy,,, I'd talk trash football b.s. to this night court ' bull' looking dude every time they patted me down,,,, that's the first time I've heard them colorfully referred to as the " ***** PACKERS",,,and well,,,I found it rather HILARIOUS.

The TD catch reminded me of.... dare I say it, Jason Witten.

Witten doesn't make super athletic catches, but he has strong *** hands and catches in traffic well while giving guys piggy back rides.

Cool to see.

These guys think Rico will be a monster.....

I agree with what Shannon said. He made point, he said some to the effect that ....... In preseason coaches don't call plays to get a guy open, it's pretty much just go out there and show us what your talent can do, and the ones that are able to make plays without plays being designed for them specifically, those are the guys you want to stick around and build on

There is no way he stays on PS

All I ask is he continues to develop, and becomes at least a Tyler Eifert type. Probably might be better.

Him and Butler are just what the offense needs after not making any big splashes in free agency to go after another Receiving threat like our rivals have
I smell it!

he is still a long way away. he is big, but he looks a little stiff. he would make a good 3rd TE, and be used in end zone or getting some first down jump balls, etc. just another weapon for pecific situations. he has long way to go

This is where I think he will find his way early on. Red zone sets. Jump balls will get gobbled like Pac Man.
