The Legend of Rico Gathers Grows

I like the way you think......

We need a guy like you within the ranks of this offense to come up with plays

LOL Im an arm chair QB just like everyone else. Just pointing out whats working with passing teams like Atlanta and the Patriots. Gronk and Brady makes a killing running those rub routes which gets his receivers open consistently. Just don't understand why we don't use it more since we do have the personnel.

Because Jason Garrett doesn't like them!

Actually Dallas tried to rub routes but couldn't execute them properly so they gave up:clap:

the irony is that with Witten on the team, rico is going to have trouble making the squad; if Witten was not there, Rico could end up being the pass-catching TE for Dallas...I wouldn't give up JW for the world, I just wish that he didn't have to play 100% of the offensive snaps...get some fresh blood in there while you still can....

Rico made a couple of great catches and its easy to see that he is a very athletic pass catching TE.

But he is a weak blocker and has shown himself to be hot-headed (tossing his helmet twice in camp and getting into a "bad" fight) as well as cocky and entitled for a player who hasn't done anything yet.

I am intrigued by his potential-- but unimpressed with his persona. Will need to see more growth-- hopefully he absorbs as much as he can from Witten on how to go about his business-- but at this point, Rico looks like he has more in common with Martellus Bennett than Witten.

He made blocks in that game that none of the other TEs on the roster can make. He went head to head with a 3-4 DE and won. The DE got zero movement on Rico. That DE weighed 295.

Rico had no problem blocking some of their LBs. He was obviously stronger than them.

i did see one where he engaged a DL and the DL went right around him

Did not see that-- will have to rewatch the game at some point. I was not focusing on him extensively but there were times when I remember him not holding the point of attack-- but he has shown inprovement in every of his game and certainly has the size to be imposing physically.

I could see us keeping 4 TEs and 6 WRs if we go with RSmith as 3rdRB/FB

Rico is worth keeping active and if that roster trick last year got us an extra year of service time that could be huge

He makes mistakes which is to be expected, but I'm looking for physical ability at this point.

Once he gets his hands on a defender, he has excellect power to block them. His issue is anticipation where he sometimes over committs in one direction and the defender counters back to the other side.
