White or Woods

Jones Heath Frazier Blanton Awuzie Scandick Lewis Carroll Brown

I think those 9 are locks. That leaves 1 spot for those 2.

I'm curious which you prefer?

Myself I think White is soft and we could really use Woods depth as a FS. OTOH I know Broaddus and others like White. He can cover.

I'll disagree with Blanton being a "lock".

I've neither heard nor read any reports on him doing anything in practice.

He didn't stand out in the Hall of Fame fame.

And he's not among the starting units on special teams.

Unlike the rookies, he's also under contract for just one year.

I think he was a 'just in case' signing, and given the draft they had, 'just in case' is no longer needed.

I would trade Scandrick before releasing either of those young kids.

We may keep both' especially if Carroll is suspended. I don't think either would last on the PS and they may make room somehow.

Tough choice for me

On one hand, White played vs bigger/competition at FSU and some FSU fans I know, swore he was better in coverage than Ramsey, but like Fuzzy said, hes soft.

On the other hand, Woods has a knack for getting turnovers which we sorely need. He's also a lil undersized and has been un-noticeable thus far.

Id go with White...

I really don't think Blanton is a lock. I was reading a post from camp the other day where it listed the players who were lining up with the first team on special teams, and Blanton wasn't part of it. IMO, special teams is his primary ticket to being on the roster along with having some starting experience. If he's not out there with that group, then the team can't feel confident that he's going to make the roster.

Both.

I don't see Blanton being a lock. He is the classic progress stopper.

Need to have players that progress in order to be stopped.
And I think we need to see all of these players a few more weeks before any of this is determined. Rather, Blanton, Woods, White, Frazier or any one else in the mix.

Comments like these make me wish fans like you ran the front office for a day.

Carroll seriously needs to go, **** veteran presence

Please no, or we would have had 52 Jamielle Showers type replacing Tony a few years back, and 1 way over priced FA taking up 95% of the cap room for the next 10 years. :muttley:

this

both White and Woods has outplayed Blanton

Give it a few more weeks and 2 more PS games. The coaches can't look at what players in what situations in one game. And we do not see all of the practices. So I will not go by a few media reports alone.

thought blanton was in trouble but is he special teams ace?

Well, the coverage teams should tell you what is going on. You can pretty much assume that the "starters" make the team.

Punts coverages featured Heath, Awuzie and Frazier along with three LBers (Wilson, Wilbur, Nzeocha), two TEs (Hanna, Swaim), two backs (the Smiths).

The kickoff coverage had Byron Jones, Heath, Awuzie, Frazier and Nolan Carroll as the DBs.

If this indicates our starting ST units right now, it does not look good for Blanton.

thanks. have u been at camp? how do u know so much details?

White isn't really soft. He's just behind in learning how to play zone defense and his technique is off. I don't think he would be Ronnie Lott by any means, but it's more about positioning and angles with him. I think Woods has more versatility. However, this will all probably come down to special teams.

Why on earth would you want release Scandrick??

Read again ...... I said trade him ....... he is almost used up has always been undersized and we have a lot of young talent at Defensive back.

There's always practice squad and Woods and White may very well both end up on there. Contrary to popular belief....the Cowboys aren't cutting all their veterans for rookies. They need some vets out there.

Who on earth would trade for someone "almost used up" and undersized? You guys kill me requesting guys get traded because they suck but then expect another team to actually want to trade or them lol.
