Cooper Rush thread **merged**

Most likely, Rush will get waived, then re-signed to the practice squad.

Every team has a Cooper Rush that the fans are slobbering over. Teams aren't going to sign a young QB to their 53 and waste a spot on them.

But we'll see.

No there is a definite difference versus what we've seen in Tanney, Vaughan, Showers, etc. There's always gonna be those homers that think Showers is the next Russell Wilson. But this guy is an NFL player imo.

Moore's our backup. The question is whether or not we keep 3 QBs. We have to be leaning that way right now. I can't see what bottom roster offensive player you'd keep over him.

No way Rush makes it to the practice squad if they waive him.

He has good poise, command of the offense and timing. Things you rarely see from players with his limited experience.

I have a feeling, given the history of this coaching staff that Moore is a lock, but if they don't keep 3 QBs it will be a huge mistake.

If Rush is waived, someone will pick him up, and we lose him. If Moore is waived, NO ONE will pick him up and he would still be available if we wanted to resign him.

I think we will know a lot about him when he plays the majority, if not all, of the 4th game.

But so far, so good. I don't get the teams fixation players with Moore.

Is there controversy now as far as who should be the backup quarterback behind Dak Prescott? Likely not.

But many fans can help but ask, should there be?

The Cowboys pulled out a 24-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts thanks to the late-game play of rookie quarterback Cooper Rush, the third straight exhibition outing in which he has looked impressive, although his work has come against those just fighting to make an NFL roster

But Rush guided Dallas to 14 points in the second half, which was the difference in the end and came on the heels of another shaky performance by Kellen Moore. The veteran led the team to three points, but also fumbled a ball that was picked up and returned for a touchdown.

From the article:

"And while the odds still seem long for Rush, as the Cowboys coaching staff values the knowledge and experience of Moore, for those fans believing that the rookie should get a shot at backup quarterback duties, well, he again held up his end of the argument."

I do NOT understand why coaches are so reluctant to bench/cut players for younger BETTER players! Moore's experience? What? Oh, yeah, his extensive record of NFL wins...NOT. Knowledge? Look, man, you can know the entire playbook and STILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY PLAY WORTH A DAMN.

So frustrating, man.

None of our 3rd team QBs since Tanney even played well. Who did we say this about last year, or any time recently?

Rush will get claimed, if we release him, 100%

Easy answer... last year, DAK PRESCOTT was the #3 quarterback.

Kellen Moore is valuable to the Cowboys, however, only if he is RELEASED and signed as a quarterbacks coach. His knowledge was valued highly by Prescott, I've read that in multiple articles.

Jason Garrett needs to stand up for his long lost son and demand he be our backup. I don't want Linehans hard on for Moore to allow us to lose Rush.

I'd rather have a guy out there with potential and to gain experience than a guy we know already sucks and still sucks.

Rush now has 4 TD's in 3 games, plus 2 other scoring drives that ended in FG's. The moment we waive him, he's gone forever.

And before somebody says "Well that was against 2nd stringers and scrubs!" who exactly was Kellen Moore playing against out there these last 3 games?

well we should keep Rush IMO

he lead us to two TD' s

Prescott was elevated due to injury. He may not have gotten a chance if Moore stayed healthy. He was our #3 during training camp, so i suppose I overlooked that.

I'm sure Moore would have done just as well as Prescott. <===== Just attempting to make the most ridiculous statement that's ever been made at CZ.

Rush is a goner...oh well, when you have a young QB like Dak already, that's just how it goes. Will Rush ever be a starting QB? Who knows but as of now, he has earned a spot in the NFL as at least a 3rd stringer. As an unknown QB prospect, you have to pretty much dominate preseason like he's doing to even have a chance of being something in the NFL. I don't care if it's against 2nd/3rd team defenses, you've gotta look the part...just like Romo used to before he finally got his chance in 2006.

Bring on Moore as a coach. He's not cut out for being an nfl player. There is a big problem with favoritism in this organization if we lose Rush.
