Patrick Mahomes had a good night as a backup QB tonight but guess what, Rush outperformed him. He way outperformed Wentz. You don't get rid of rookie QBs that outperform 1st round picks. The montra changes this week. Moore's hold on the backup job will see its first cracks this week and by cutdown day, the team will get it right. I have confidence.
rush looked good again. I wish that the coaching staff would put him in against teams second teams players to see how he would look instead of a bunch of undrafted players like he has been playing against in his first three games.
Well we were ready to go with a rookie as back-up last year before Romo got hurt, just saying.
I think they will try to keep him as the 3rd QB and only keep 5 WRs and thats OK because they are not going to cut Moore.
Look at all the drafted QB in their NFL that can't seem to connect during their rookie training camp.
I dont know how to place Rush in which round but we got another UDFA gem.
Cut time is really going to be difficult for the first time in a while.
Yes we were. When Moore got hurt did we panic and sign a vet?No we weren't. It took Moore getting hurt before Dak got his shot. Otherwise, KM starts the season.
You can't put any of the injured guys on PUP, it is only for players who never participated in training camp. And only Crawford has a significant injury, the rest are soft tissue being held out as a precaution.Very difficult!
I'd hope we keep Rush on the 53, but I can easily seeing it playing out where he's released. Right now, Dallas has a bunch of minor, yet significant, injuries. Especially in the WR, DL, and secondary position groups. I say those injuries are significant because they're going to necessitate keeping an extra player or two in each of those groups until everyone is healthy. We're talking about injuries that aren't serious enough to warrant putting a player on PUP or IR. Nonetheless, until they're healthy, you're gonna need depth to take up the slack. And each of those "depth" positions is going to take a spot on the 53 that could go to Cooper Rush.
What's more, as well as Rush has played, it's still only against opposing 3s and 4s (also known as the Future Furniture Movers of America). Unless he gets a chance to show what he can do against 1s and 2s, he's not going to overtake Moore on the depth chart. As bad as Moore has looked, he's still enjoyed SOME success against starting-level defense's. Unless the coaching staff gives Cooper the chance these last two preseason games, he's going to enter the season as the #3. In that scenario, it's not hard to envision him being squeezed off the 53.
Babe completely dismissed the notion of Rush being the back up. My question is why? Experience? Sure Moore has it but what kind of experience? The guy can't play.
This argument can be said about Dak too and look how is he now.Quarterback position is different. The exact same thing was said about Darius Jackson. And Matt Moore. No freaking way Rush makes it thru 31 other teams
and that chance is Zero he won't last a minute. We have to keep both Moore and Rush.
If we cut Moore he will be signed by a NFCE rival. He knows so much about our offense and nuances that he is worth the roster spot for our rivals. His knowledge is invaluable.
I think Rush has little chance of clearing waivers. One of the rebuilding teams will take a chance and sign him as 3rd QB.
I am not optimistic that even if he clears waivers that we will get him on PS. If I were his agent, I'd advise him to go to a team with an unstable QB position - more likely to get an opportunity and 1st or even 2nd team reps than in Dallas Daks age and hold on the starting job coupled with the teams dedication to Moore (if they choose Moore over Rush) will deter young QBs from signing with Dallas.
That's Gold Dave Goldpass the salt
strange things can happen and good quarterbacks not easily found. this can turn up like Jimmy Smith the wide receiver.Rush is a goner...oh well, when you have a young QB like Dak already, that's just how it goes. Will Rush ever be a starting QB? Who knows but as of now, he has earned a spot in the NFL as at least a 3rd stringer. As an unknown QB prospect, you have to pretty much dominate preseason like he's doing to even have a chance of being something in the NFL. I don't care if it's against 2nd/3rd team defenses, you've gotta look the part...just like Romo used to before he finally got his chance in 2006.
